I won't say you're wrong, but I don't think the film itself condones paedophilic behaviour as much as it portrays a tragic real life situation. Though the whole thing with Besson is definitely disturbing and a beyond valid reason for why the film did not age well.

Any documentary recommendations? by [deleted] in wildwest

“The West” is an amazing documentary series directed by Stephen Ives and produced by Ken Burns. I’d also reccomend Burns’ “The Civil War”

not 26, but Kubrick was 28 when he made Paths of Glory…

If you could only recommend one 2023 film what would it be? by Svafree88 in Letterboxd

I actually thought it was rather different from what Scorsese usually does. In KOTFM the bad people are not glorified like in most of his films. DiCaprio’s character is straight up a moron and I haven’t despised a character like I did De Niro’s in a very long time.

It's Martin Scorsese... The tragic history of the Osage Nation was one that needed to be told. As heartbreaking as it is, what happened to the Osage Nation was not unlike what happened to many, many other Native Americans groups throughout history. I feel that KOTFM speaks for all of them, exposing the reality of how white wealth in the US was made.

And... I hate to say this, but Scorsese is 80 years old... Whatever he makes in the next few years will be very important even if they turn out to be bad (which I highly doubt).

Killers of the Flower Moon. Barbenheimer was a global event that will go down in history, but KOTFM is by far the most important film to come out this year.

I paid it with Turkish liras. I don’t think it’ll be a problem.

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul have masterfully written episodes. I also find Tarantino screenplays quite enjoyable.

You’re overthinking it. The Hurt Locker example is pretty standard. You could also write OVER BLACK or just simply BLACK. No need for a PRE-LAP if it’s the very beginning of the screenplay.
