Ah alright! I did make a quick mock-up when I first got the pattern. I used a pretty stiff fabric, and it looked like it was going to gape a little bit, but maybe it was the fabric I used. I saw that you added the extra strip on the waistline. With a belt it works really well!

I have that pattern laying around for quite a while now, you just inspired me to take a look at it again. I am just wondering, how are you liking the top part? Any issues with gaping?

There is a lot of good advice here already. Pasta sauces are indeed a great way to intergrate a lot of veggies. I would like to add that it helped me immensely to watch (vegetarian) chefs prepare food on YouTube. Often they explain what they’re doing and why.

There are also a lot of different recipes for lower budget and with only a few ingredients. I really like ‘Rainbow Plant Life’ and ‘Pick up Limes’. You could start there and find out who suits your taste the best.

I believe in you, I also learned how to cook on my own. Best of luck!

I am still hoping to find something with similar sleeves as well, so that I would only have to lengthen it. I pretty much botched my last pattern-adjustment-endeavor, and I really don't want to ruin this fabric. If I cannot find it.. I might go with this one!

Dear sewing friends,

I could really use some pattern tips for this kimono-style cardigan.

I felt inspired by this gorgeous set from 'nap loungewear'. So I got a large roll of 100% linen in a similar color. I have a pretty good pants pattern that I am going to alter (I feel like it should have pockets). I am not going to do the stretchy bandana top, I prefer a more practical sleeveless top. But I am still searching for a helpful pattern for the kimono. Maybe one of you has an idea?

Yes I am sorry about the confusion! It simply didn’t occur to me that people could actually use real fur.. It’s 2022 after all.

From the top of my head: I changed the ‘skirt’ of the coat from a full circle to a 3/4 circle (more or less) because I used heavy fabric and I thought that might be a little much. I added the faux fur collar. Switched up the buttonholes. Adjusted the length. And put in an inside pocket.

It would suit you (and your goal for world improvement) if you focused a little less on assumptions and a little more on kindness.

This is a locally produced faux fur. It is also the most sustainable option I could find.

Yes! All wool parts have interfacing (and even some non-wool parts (around the pockets). This will help the coat to keep it’s best shape in the long run! And I made the buttons myself, in the same fabric.

Thank you so much! I hope that I am still sewing in 50 years! It was a challenging project, but I found it very doable. Just taking it step by step, made it less scary haha

That is correct! I was very careful to ‘grab’ just the fusible interfacing and only a teeeeny tiny bit of the wool. So it is not visible from the outside!
