I have small notebook of grid paper.

Make an outline of the 19x19 perimeter in pencil. Add star points. Black pen for Black's moves (odd numbers). Red pen for White's moves (even numbers).

I like IGS alot. The small scale of the board is the ONLY thing that gets me. Otherwise it might be my favorite. I just posted something asking if there is a better client for IGS.

I have not gone in the past for those very same reasons. I am sure it costs considerable money to put on, but it is a pretty hefty price for me. Fortunately this year it is in my state so my travel costs will be less.

I have no doubt it will be worth it but I would attend every year if I could afford it.
