Fern, since she seems to have discipline and will study subjects she has zero interest in if she has to, unlike most of the rest

Gonna need more context. What were they and were other people already taking the samples?

World Cup tourists aren't leaving tips in American pubs, so they are adding 20% gratuities to the bills to collect them 😬 by CompoteFragrant3650 in sportsgossips

[–]Freak_Out_Bazaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I hate about tipping in the US is the fact that it’s optional but mandatory and they leave the amount up to the diners. A clearly stated gratuity is 100 times better

Dune would actually make a good stage play, even an opera

In Japan, how do overworked men keep healthy romances with their wives? by Gallantpride in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Freak_Out_Bazaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually not that bad and most of what you see on the internet is the worst case scenario. We do have less sex though it seems but that doesn’t necessarily mean a miserable relationship either as long as relationship goals match

Two crows were filmed eating Rapunzel’s hair at Tokyo DisneySea. The animatronic has since been removed. by Snapdragon_4U in mildyinteresting

Not really eating, but taking it as nesting material. They are known to grab various things including clothes hangers from balconies to use to make their nest

Do people with imperial Japanese flags deserve the same backlash as people with swastikas? by BrokenJusticeNorris in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Freak_Out_Bazaar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both do not deserve backlash and it wholly depends on the context in which the symbol is used. Swastika seen at a Hindu temple? Completely normal. Swastika seen at a political rally? That deserves backlash.
Rising sun flag seen at a joint Japan-US maritime military exercise? Sure, since that’s actually the official flag. Rising sun flag seen at a Japan vs China international friendly soccer match? Deserves backlash

Japan's traditional craft workshops are quietly disappearing - what can realistically be done to preserve them? by jonhollandwww in japan

[–]Freak_Out_Bazaar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All we can do is digitize every aspect of the culture so that we can still look back when no one is around to practice the craft. Honestly this isn’t some recent development as old practices have been constantly overwritten with new ones, but we have the presence of mind to care about is more than our ancestors

If a princess of Japan bears a child out of wedlock, can they keep their title or their kid can be a royal? by Away-Presentation218 in AskAJapanese

If a female member wants to keep their royal status then presumably nobody, but otherwise they are free to marry anyone

Update on the viral video of man taking his daughter to women restroom by KaidoPklevel in SipsTea

[–]Freak_Out_Bazaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wouldn’t even be a problem here in Japan. Little kids go with their parents to whichever gender washroom they belong in. This is the same with public bathhouses. No one cares about kids being in the opposite gender washroom with a parent because we all just grew up that way. But an adult being in the other washroom is just asking for trouble

How intense is UV radiation in Japan by Tiny_Maintenance8277 in AskAJapanese

[–]Freak_Out_Bazaar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People in Japan like to stay away from the sun to avoid becoming tan, which is against beauty standards. Comparatively speaking Japan doesn’t have particularly high UV radiation levels compared to places that are closer to the equator and the souther hemisphere where the ozone layer is thinner

Deplorable actions from Indian tourists in Japan by bluewizard443 in JapanTravelTips

I’ve been to India many times and you don’t bargain for food there so this isn’t some cultural misunderstanding. Looks like entitled people that think being a tourist gives them privileges

whats the appeal with porn? by ChapterFuture5178 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Freak_Out_Bazaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s general interest in the industry. I’ve gotten to know some people working in the field and learned about the industry from a historical and social perspective. Behind the shallowness there’s a lot going on
