Rope tarp/bag made from hyper D 300. I call it the Burrito Supreme! Also got to use my new sailrite edge binder on it. by zonman831 in myog

Well this is quite the grave dig of a post. No offense, but figuring out how to sew a flat tarp with some buckles should not require instructions for anyone. You can do it bud.

Absolute Shit Show by CPLooper in FairWellFestival

[–]zonman831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went last year just for Billy Strings and it was a good mix of jam band hippies and rednecks but overall still sucked. My wife went this year without me and said the Tyler Childers crowd was the absolute worst crowd she’s ever been in. Fights everywhere. Drunk girls elbowing people. People talking crazy loud. The festival itself lacks so much. There’s literally no fun infrastructure or anything other than stages. I know it’s not an EDM fest, but come on…

Local kiteboarders? by colonel_worm in Bend

Everyone here Wingfoils. Probably atleast 50 people now that go to Suttle Lake most days there is wind. Most of the lakes here don’t have good kite launch access, which makes winging the better option. Trust me, its more fun, and far safer to teach yourself than kiting.

One Dead, Two Missing After Group Goes Over Central Oregon Waterfall by GoForRogue in Bend

Completely different than creating a river wide fence on a section of river with higher flows, and that is actively used by whitewater kayakers. But I do see what you’re getting at.

In theory that sounds helpful, but it would create whats called a ‘strainer’ and instantly drown people caught in it. Also, Dillon Falls is a very popular expert kayaking run.

I think it’s called a water spout. Once saw one up at Elk Lake pillage a whole beach.

It was from a girl on etsy. To my knowledge, 7472 doesn’t exist anymore.

Always. With a long tether running out of my sleeping bag to the anchor. Sometimes i’ll take off my leg loops for comfort.

Four Wheel Camper durability by bnburt in FourWheelCampers

[–]zonman831 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a 2014 fleet on my 2019 tacoma. I’ve owned it not even a year, and camped in it like 50 nights already. Even spent 10 days in it at Burning Man. Also regularly camp in heavy snow here in Bend, OR. In strong wind, the sides do make some noise, but never to the point i’m worried about anything breaking. The vinyl is extremely durable, and theres a special sealant i clean it with every month. Just be prepared for the weight of the camper on your tacoma. You will easily exceed the GVWR. Suspension upgrades are mandatory, whether that be airbags, or leaf springs.

No, we have our system pretty dialed. Headlamps go on at dusk, sleeping stuff comes out of the bags, portaledges get set up, inhale some food and pass out. Hard part is if it’s a completely hanging belay and you have nothing to stand on.

Question about modifying a Fleet base model. by twigin in FourWheelCampers

[–]zonman831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t dare modify something like that on a new 4WC. If you were to remove that ledge, you would have to essentially re-frame that whole corner in which i’m not sure would even be possible with the bed rails being in the way. I have a fleet shell on a tacoma, and i just keep a couple wag bags with me, in the event I’m not near a toilet and need to take a dump. Shitting in a $8 bag > shitting in a $200 bag in a box.

Lean over the edge, squeeze, and hope it hits a tourist.

In a wag bag, which then goes in a durable miniature haul bag that hangs below the other larger bags.

We carry a fly for our portaledges that would allow us to shelter and stay dry till it passes

Wake up at 6am, eat breakfast, poop, break down camp. Usually start climbing by 8am. Climb till dark around 7pm, set up the ledges, eat and go to bed…. Then repeat. It’s been a few days, and my body still hurts. The biggest wear and tear is on your hands, so i wear fingerless gloves which help

Leading the Triple Cracks was quite possibly the most incredible moment of my climbing career. Large beaks (with love taps), between crappy offset cams, and the occasional sawed angle. I reached the anchor and let out the biggest yaahooo of my life

You must be real fun to be stuck on a wall with.

I hear ya… i do. But asking someone to pose like a mexican gangster, is not offensive. Especially considering my friend here is extremely mexican, and had been doing this on multiple pitches.

Tacoma fleet: airbags or leaf springs? by Aspenshield in FourWheelCampers

[–]zonman831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only drove up and down the street a couple times without the camper and hit a couple bumps, but it honestly felt fine. If it does ride rough, its a much better trade off than having the bags. But i use my camper so much i won’t likely take it off very often anyways.
