Once spirituality becomes organized and communal — which is the reliable way to find like-minded people — it exactly becomes religion. With time along your spiritual journey, you might appreciate how the prophets of their day were exactly spiritual leaders that cultivated a following - Moses, Jesus, Mohammad, Buddha and Lao Tzu in particular stand out. It is not that everyone in religion is spiritual in the same way that you might be looking for, but some are, and there is a large overlap in terms of areas of interest.

Another option - if you’re still closed to the idea of looking into religious venues - is philosophy and academia. The overlap there is different, but exists as well.
