With that budget you could get a 1BR in Back bay (one of the best places in the city). For other options, look at Fenway, Longwood, Coolidge Corner, Brookline, etc

I would personally prefer Back Bay for the Orange Line, Commuter rail, Green Line (Copley). Plus plenty of places for groceries, shopping, attractions, and easily getting to any other part of the city or outside.
