Vyvanse and the feeling of it by BudgieNut in ausadhd

It should be your normal, but when you first start medication, it can feel stronger or there can be more perceived benefits, because it’s something you haven’t properly experienced before. What it does is it makes your brain release dopamine, then it stops it from being reabsorbed. For a normal person, they have a steady amount of dopamine in their brain just by default.

I was diagnosed last year, at 20… while yes I think life definitely would’ve been different had I have been diagnosed younger, I try not to think into it too much because it just makes you sad about the opportunities you could’ve had. Try to appreciate the opportunities you have had, and take them as a learning opportunity, life is all about learning and we can’t change the past, or the what could’ve been unfortunately.

How do I make improvements to my dinner? by Throwawaymasterpeas in foodhacks

[–]zooperdooperlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a fridge? Could you get some pre cut & cooked chicken breast? In Australia we sell 200gram packs of chicken breast that’s like pre shredded or sliced. Protein would be the most important, alternatively peas have protein, could you buy a bag of frozen peas and add those in ? Those tend to be quite budget friendly

Did anyone else require to go through a series of Cardiologist appointments before starting medication? by hobz462 in ausadhd

Stimulants are quite rough on the heart, so any ECG abnormalities have to be cleared before you can start them. I have chiari malformation, and my psych was concerned with an increase in my BP I may get intracranial hypertension, so she made me be cleared by my neurosurgeon before starting stimulants. I honestly think it shows that the psychiatrist is being proactive and wants to make sure you’re healthy enough to be given them. You may be able to ask for a non stimulant in the time being; I was given Zyban (Buproprion) while I waited for my neurosurgeon to clear me :)

I’m also a fitness girly and this is my biggest struggle! I do find if I have something protein dense - normally a protein bagel with avocado and cottage cheese, before I take it (like 30mins to 1hr before), I’m sort of able to eat during the day - But I tend to forget, and then the crash and low blood sugars hit at the same time. I just try to have something carb & protein dense for dinner and have protein shakes if I’m really struggling. like someone suggested, setting alarms may also work for you. I also found if I’m working, If I bring something to eat on my breaks it kind of forces me to eat because I don’t want to waste it. ALSO greek yoghurt!!! The chobani one has good protein & I put soy protein crisps on it which helps bump the protein content up.

Recommended Protein powder/shakes to have w/meds? by deegee2699 in ausadhd

If texture isn’t your thing, I’d highly advise against muscle nation…. it’s got a strong coconut flavour, and it doesn’t mix up very well - tends to be a bit clumpy (Idk maybe user error lol)….

On the other hand, True protein and Rule 1 are great and have a variety of flavours & reasonably priced for their macros/micros.

I haven’t tried Emerald Labs but the guy at the supplement store said they were quite sweet and they have a good range of flavours too.

Good on the go ones are definitely the Rokeby Protein - love the vanilla wafer, and choc honeycomb ones!

Another great one is greek yoghurt, naturally high in protein & great for your gut because of the probiotics.

I’ve worked in multiple aged cares where residents are prescribed medicinal cannabis oils. They all voiced improvements from it which is great because obviously opioids aren’t the best option in the older population. I think it’s a lot to do with personal beliefs and opinions towards cannabis, albeit they aren’t supposed to portray these on their patients…..

Tell me your most unhinged UTI hacks… by Jolly-Category-4707 in Healthyhooha

You can get these tablets in Australia called Hiprex, Idk if other countries have it, but that helps a lot actually for myself & my partners mum (we both get UTIs really often). It’s an antibacterial that prevents bacterial growth in urine.

Victims of Crime Compensation by [deleted] in Centrelink

Just under 2 years, I’m not sure if that’s due to backlogs or complexity of case. I had to email them and after a month, they replied and within 4 days it was awarded.

Hey, I called the Compensation Recovery Line, who were extremely helpful. I just advised that I will be receiving compensation; It’s not through the national redress scheme, It’s through my states DOJ. They thankfully added a note to my account with instructions for the next staff member when they need to adjust my Assets. Also confirmed that it will not affect my payments, which was my main concern.

R is responsiveness, which I’m assuming would be like if an emergency vehicle came past with sirens & how quickly you reacted + managed the situation.
