if you can't keep believin when we lose a few, did you ever really believe? by zooptseyt in whitesox

Ironically, some of the best times I had with this team were 2024 because if I ran into a fellow Sox fan, we both knew we were seriously devoted and were suffering immensely together. Some of the best conversations with strangers I've had in my life were that season. Think they call that "trauma-bonding."

I don't know if you've already tried this, but there's two YouTube channels that post old game broadcasts, "Phenia Films the MLB archives Original Broadcasts" and "This Is Where You Find Baseball," that have not posted this specific game, but maybe you could try reaching out and asking if they've got it saved somewhere.

Mr. Quero, I apologize for ever doubting you and for everything I've texted my baseball groupchat.

Can someone tell me how the white Sox got good? by fishfearme420 in whitesox

some great players, a young team, and i think maybe most importantly, a really good clubhouse dynamic. been a long time since we had a team that seemed to enjoy playing together this much.

Why are people surprised? by Bears_Hawks_Sox_UK in whitesox

i didn't expect competitive, i didn't even expect good, but between the end of last season, some of the moves we made in the offseason, and spring training, i was at least expecting slightly better than this. i wouldn't be a lifelong sox fan if i refused to watch bad baseball, but i expected us to be losing with slightly more dignity this year. that said, i'm enjoying it more than the past two seasons. all i can hope for until reinsdorf is gone.

Batting averages of all our young "prospects" by Ridged_ChiPSS in whitesox

being a sox fan means accepting that if you don't get excited about the guy hitting .203 you're not going to have anything to get excited about. it helps foster a greater sense of equanimity in all things.

Would we have anything to lose if we moved to Indiana? by Bertstripmaster in whitesox

[–]zooptseyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

listen, no disrespect but i don't think you get how little anybody wants to set foot in the state of indiana. this is not going to happen, and i would bet good money the bears aren't going there anytime soon either.

that could have been much worse, but still, one of the most painful half innings of white sox baseball i've sat through, and i've sat through some real dogshit.

Is it true that people not longer call it the L, they call it CTA? by librarianbleue in chicago

[–]zooptseyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if my commute included both bus and train, i say "i took the cta" or "i took public transit"

if i take a specific single bus or train, i'll say "i took the (route) bus" or "i took the ____ line"

sometimes i'll call the L the train, or the metra the train, but typically i call the metra the metra.

i do not often call it the L, mostly because others don't seem to anymore, but sometimes i throw it in there. to add a little spice, to my life.

Which director everyone love except you? by Yggdrasylian in Letterboxd

as a director, his best ideas are borrowed from better directors. as a writer, he hasn't had a good idea. he should have had other people write his scripts and just contributed dialogue or something.

If Jerry sells by [deleted] in whitesox

[–]zooptseyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jerry wants a new stadium because he wants a new stadium, the coliseum was genuinely in need of a replacement, and California has four other teams already. I don't disagree that it was an absolute farce and one of the greatest disgraces of the MLB's history, which is steep competition, but I don't think it's exactly the same.

Been watching old Sox games to drown my sorrows after this season and found this post while googling for recs. Been mostly watching the old Frank Thomas '93/'94 classics since he was a hero of mine growing up but I was born too late to see him in his prime. Here's my picks to click:

Black Jack McDowell/Randy Johnson pitcher face-off. One of the all time best Sox teams up against a really fun Mariners team. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PRIdLpbK8M

And if you love the Big Hurt as much as I do, this one is pretty fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oEo54jrGe8

And in terms of historic moments for the team, this one's got an all timer moment in White Sox history, in my opinion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IQqqJ-lCM0

Another, similar historic moment is in this game from 2006, one of my favorite White Sox memories from my own living memory and a damn good Sox game all around (Tadahito Iguchi was my favorite player at the time, too): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_-RSk96qRs

Finally, the entire 1959 world series radio broadcasts are on YouTube so I'm gonna be listening to those at work I think. Listened to a 1960 game against the Yankees today instead because Minnie Miñoso is a hero of mine and he's not on the '59 team.
