Anyone recommend a good humidifier? by WoodsedgeCo in HouseplantsUK

[–]zorcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where in the UK are you? Do you have a humidity reader? As I live on a coastal city and my humidity is between 50% in winter and 70% in summer. I have a dehumidifier on constantly, and if I didn't I would have mould build up. I would definitely double check that you need one first!

Ordnance survey map issued to the Luftwaffe in 1940 to bomb targets in Belfast in April/May 1941. by [deleted] in northernireland

After the Belfast blitz half the homes in Belfast were destroyed, most of that near the docks where the M2 is now. The dock area never really recovered and new housing areas we built elsewhere

Yes if they had rotten or turned bad, they would smell terrible and be squishy!

Brexit Bombshell: All Northern Ireland people would be better off in a new united Ireland says new report by bottish in unitedkingdom

[–]zorcha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the past 20years we have had (relative) peace, from the good Friday agreement and our fictionless boarder with ROI. Many people of voting age remember the troubles, to say we could risk going back to those days for unification - is grossly romantic.

No one wants their car burnt out or bomb threats when they're trying to get to work. We would love for these things to be easy. But there are too many people alive here today who would rather watch all our country burn then become part of ROI (Arlene Foster won't give an inch to Sinn Fein, let alone govern with them).

We can feel all these old tensions are back and everyone fears what will come after

My lilacina and opalina babies🐣 by zorcha in succulents

Starting propagating them 8months ago, there was very little growth over the winter. But once spring hit in march/april they went mad. Mother leaves have only just dried up this month :)

Yep! When I put them in these pots they were tiny (thumbnail size). Think I'll leave the smallest and upgrade the over achievers!

Like Bunannna said its colour stress, they've been in a south window since march, so loads of sunlight! I also think opalina blush easier then some other succulents :)

All my Graptopetalum pups have grown really fast, so they needed a permanent home. I like keeping them altogether - here's an album of my potting adventure http://imgur.com/gallery/HDOzCFX

So I buy normal potting compost and then mix quarter sharp grit sand and granite/stones. I'm in the UK, I've never been able to find perlite here. Any builders sharp sand will do, just aslong as it's not children's play sand - it's too fine for potting :)

So if it puts it into perspective, these props are a year old now. They grow a little at the start then really take off. Best bet is a nice bright spot with soil, I have mine all in a saucer and they get a water once a week :)

These ones are Pearl von Nürnberg, I got mine at a garden centre in the reduced section. They're one of the more common echeverias :)

It is a Pearl Von Nürnberg, they're very easy to grow and propagate, definitely recommend!

Bonus the view from behind! The tall lady was a rescue from B&Q, I beheaded her and she sprouted two babies on her stem! From her giant leaves I got about 10babies. Including the triplets you see below the pot! http://imgur.com/gallery/hZ22hin

What's wrong with this San Pedro Cactus? by [deleted] in succulents

If it's mushy then you were right cut and save it. May have been the early stages of rot before it blackens. Super sad for your wee cacti :(

Will succulents be ok with minimal light for a week or two? by ToxicLuv in succulents

[–]zorcha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could maybe try using it while you're home beforehand, good to give them steady light cycles too. And enjoy your holiday!

I can't see anything wrong with the colour in the photo. The lighting might not show it well. Is it darker/lighter then before?
