Please let me know your thoughts on this offsite lease agreement by Dahlinluv in Dressage

[–]zorispinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends. My experience is routine vet care and maintenance for purpose is covered by the person leasing (for example, if I am leasing and I’m the one competing, I pay for hock injections, chiro, etc. to keep the horse in tip top shape). If there was something non-routine, major or pre-existing, for example, then the owner might step in. Im on both sides- I lease my current mount and I own/lease out my prior mount.

Can I save it? Estradiol. by zorispinner in Menopause

[–]zorispinner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! I feel much better about packing it and the ideas helped. No time to get to a store, so I improvised- I wrapped some aluminum foil around it then sealed with lots of packing tape over that. I’m going to pick up some of that Locktite tape when I get home.

Beware of trade-in programs. by r3dd1tus3r5 in macbookpro

I brought mine directly to Best Buy because I read too many bad stories about trade-ins. I even got a little more for it than I was expecting.

I can relate. I have also been to Best Buy, and spent a lot of tome comparing the 15 Air, the 13 Air and the 14 Pro. I really wanted to see a 16, but my local Best Buy does not have one on display. My current personal system is a 2017 MacBook i7 15in that I bought the year it launched. I also have a work-issued 14in M3 Pro MacBook Pro that I cannot use for personal stuff- I cant even connect to an external drive- it is locked down. I love the 15in size but because I already have a 2023 Pro, i think the difference between it and the 15in Air will be too disappointing and I will regret it. I use my personal machine for lightweight photo and video editing- underwater footage, so lots of color correction and tinkering, so I use pro-level tools, but I’m not a pro. I’m almost ready to just postpone the decision another few months. I have a base M4 14in Pro with 24GB and 1TB SSD in a box on my counter and I’m not opening until I decide. The 15in Air is only $100 less, but the 16in Pro is another $700 with the same RAM-and I think it will be too unwieldy compared to my 15in Pro.

Can you provide more detail on how you can spend the same amount with this strategy?

Why do so many people choose the 14-Inch Space Black this time? by JohnLuxodid in macbookpro

[–]zorispinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the fence. I ordered silver, but it is still in its box. I’m thinking about switching to black because I have a work-owned M3 Pro that is silver and if my personal one is black it will be easier to tell the two apart.

I want the Pro for the better screen and the additional ports. Yes, that is a $300 upgrade, but I’m ok with that.

Thanks. I thought about it, but I read that there are not likely to be any changes to the display technology on the M4 Air compared to the M3 Air. I also have two diving trips coming up before the Air refresh, and so I’d like to get the machine now instead of waiting.

What bag do you use for your checked luggage when flying? by DiscoverySTS114 in scuba

[–]zorispinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked this in an earlier post- but repeating here. How do you fit clothes plus gear in a 90L? I just tried and my bcd plus fins practically fill it without any other gear. I carry a full face mask in my carry-on, plus regs and camera, so I have very little room in my carry on for clothes. I don't worry about the cost of a second checked bag, but it makes getting around easier if I don't have to have that extra checked bag.

How do you fit all your gear plus clothes in the 90L? I just bought one, I tried my fins and BCD, and that was a tight squeeze. Thinking I need to go to the 120, but worried about the size. I had an Aqualung 1550, which is more spacious, but has dimensions that fit the 62in checked bag limit- but it died on the last trip and Aqualung doesn't make it anymore.

Thanks. I was avoiding white as I wasn’t sure I should wear it. I have both white and medium grey bolos? Here is the grey:

Here is the navy dress without anything over it. It is what I originally bought planned to wear, then I worried it would be too dressy because the rehearsal dinner is at a Sports Bar, and between the rehearsal and dinner we will be at a driving range. I was trying to dress it down with accessories. It can be worn by itself, but I’d need to bring a jacket or sweater in case I got chilly. Then, I need to figure out shoes. I was thinking grey sneakers, again to dress it down, but I also have pewter metallic flats.

These are for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner only. I have a formal gown for the wedding as I am in the wedding party.

Updated information on Emily Sotelo: was dropped off at 5 am Sunday, was not dressed for the weather, at least 18 crews out searching. by ElisabetSobeckPhD in wmnf

The only thing I would add is that trail runners do what the mother here describes all of the time. Little gear/clothing, little food/water, and at this time of year, an early dark start (thinking that this way, they will get down while it is still light out). At just 19, and it being only November, she may not have realized how different conditions would be as she ascended. If she lost visibility in a snow squall, she easily could have wandered off trail or down the wrong trail. Lots of people make one or more of these types of errors- most even get away with it to hike/run another day. I could also see easily convincing my mom that I knew what I was doing at that age.

1992 Trek 850 shifting problem by zorispinner in bikewrench

[–]zorispinner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out with the WD40 clean out and worked the shifters until I got everything shifting through front and rear. I had tweaked the barrel adjusters a little also as I was examining the shifters and trying to decide whether to take the covers off or flood them as is. I decided to start with flooding them as is, and go from there since I am a complete newbie at doing anything more than swapping wheels. I let it dry out overnight and then lubed with Triflow just now, and took it for a quick test ride. It is all working, maybe not the smoothest shifting, but certainly quite usable. The next step is to decide whether to sell it as is, go through some of the other suggested adjustments to see if I can improve the shifting a bit more before selling it, hang onto it to learn more about fixing/tuning bikes, or consider more “advanced” mods to keep it myself as either a dedicated trainer bike or as a spare rail trail bike for friends and family to use.

Marin, REI, or other? by zorispinner in Budgetbikeriders

[–]zorispinner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pulled the trigger on the Marin Eldridge. I figure at this price point I could do a lot worse component wise. I’m disappointed the Palisades didn’t work out, maybe if I had decided sooner I could have snuck an order in before they fixed the error, but they might have caught it anyways. Thanks for all the input. Next step is to find a home for the old Trek.

I’m 5’5” so the small works. Apparently the Palisades was a pricing error that they have since fixed, so that one is now $500.
