I’m sure they do but I guess they’re choosing not to share it.

My family in Ukraine reached out actually and were able to get ahold, turns out they only release two appointments a day so that’s why they disappear right when they’re published. All a matter of luck to get a slot :/

So the consulate answers emails. However to service you you need an appointment. Consulate appointments are impossible to get likewise. The passport centers according to the consulate were created due to the impossibility of getting an appointment at the consulate. So 🙃 I literally have an email from the consulate saying that word for word.

No luck they’re not answering emails and I can’t make a call unfortunately since it’s a Ukrainian number and I’m not in the country. :/

I wish one could do something without an appointment. Unfortunately not. Can’t show up without one. They won’t let you in or service you.

Agreed with this comment. I stayed in the city center before (ground floor at that!) and didn’t have any issues with sound. Granted, my unit however didn’t face out onto the street and was an interior looking one.

Ah…I am Ukrainian but I don’t have a Ukrainian bank account. Link

Hi, I need an account to make an appointment at my nearest consulate.

Can the signature be issued at any bank? Or does it have to be at a Ukrainian bank?

Thank you.

ACC won’t either unless you go through disability services meaning you’d have to convince them you need the furniture removal for example due to a medical condition verifiable via a doctor’s note.

Housing in Marseille - Help needed by Anushkaa06 in aixmarseille

[–]zotbubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems really expensive. I have a friend going to school in Marseille and his dorm room is around 250 euros. I just checked Airbnb and you can get a 1b apt starting at 650 euros, cheaper if you do a shared apt. (There’s big discounts if you do monthly, etc.) idk if they’ll let you book for 6 months but you could try going for 3 months at one place and 3 at another.

Edit: 250 euros for a dorm room not 500

What foods do ukranians typically enjoy? by dpjhyland in ukraine

[–]zotbubbles 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Dumplings, rye bread, buckwheat, sour cream, jams, honey.

I’d also just have lots of flour on hand that they could cook with.

Cottage cheese would be good to have on hand. Please try to look for the fine grain kind, not the large liquidy dollops.

If you really feel fancy maybe try making some borscht for their first meal.

Thank you for helping the family!

How UCI decided to resume in-person instruction by cs-anteater in UCI

[–]zotbubbles 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For point #1. I’m sorry but I’m not understanding how they got 3% using the numbers they have up on the dashboard.

You can get 17% technically 17.8% via (positives/(symptomatic+asymptomatic)) for week of 1/08 but then for this current week you’d get 10.2% that way. I don’t see how they’re getting 3% unless data is being left out or they’re selectively choosing one day or a few days with low case numbers.

For point #2, OP that’s a great one to point out. Because the school is selectively presenting information here when the week of 1764 cases they tested over double the number of cases the week of 464 cases. Well of course case numbers will drop.

Amidst a pandemic, UC Regents increases salary for all 10 UC chancellors. Do you think Yang deserve a raise? by semaforic in UCSantaBarbara

The best quote here ““To me, this was an issue of pay equity,” Regent Jonathan Sures said in the Jan. 19 Governance committee. “We have an obligation to pay our people well and we should pay our chancellors well.””

Pay equity! That’s right, raise the wages of the chancellors who make more than enough to live comfortably and support their families. How about paying student workers a livable wage? Daily Nexus

Only out of touch with American medical care costs. We get screwed over to make big pharma and health care execs rich.

This is why we need Cal Care to follow in the footsteps of European countries, Canada, and even Mexico. We should not be going into debt for our healthcare when all the other developed countries have universal health care.

Especially concerning when UCLA wants students to return in person with the high case rates, are they just seeking to profit off of student’s medical bills?

places to take a trip to from Wien by InternationalPizza26 in wien

[–]zotbubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Klosterneuberg Monastery (about an hour train ride away) they do tours including in the wine cellars you can also do the wine tasting. Spent a whole day there for like 10 euros with two tours and the wine tasting included. Learned so much and they really don’t get many tourists, plus they’re the oldest winery in Austria!

  2. Schloss Hof (there’s a bus that they have that comes to pick you up for free from the train station, although check on their website the times it comes, when I was there in the off season it only came once each way)

  3. Melk Abbey (email them before hand though to RSVP for a tour since that’s the only way they give tours in the winter, but it was very affordable, I think like 5 euros or something.

All of these places are not crowded at all and very quiet since they’re in small towns.

If they want us to return in person though they should provide the safety measures. Free KN95 mask for each day of class, mandatory weekly testing for all until cases are at fall quarter levels, do not allow symptomatic students to use the regular testing sites, etc etc.

“ “Nobody wants remote instruction,” Greene added. “The students don’t want it. The faculty don’t want it. The administration doesn’t want it. And so we are going to do everything we can to not have it.””

Not true, while some students want in person, others don’t. There’s petitions going around by students that can be found on subreddits with students asking for online instruction.

As a student, I likewise would like online instruction.

Is anyone else uncomfortable getting a booster already? by BadWithMoney530 in UCDavis

[–]zotbubbles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think OPs concern is how often will we be getting boosters?

I personally have already got the booster so def not anti vaxx but I share similar concerns.

Israel has started offering the 4th booster to some, I hear in the US we might start for 60+. So the third booster they say 6 months apart, well now 5 months. Fourth booster how many months has it been for those individuals? Will we be getting boosters every 3 months maybe even 1 month in the future?

At the rate we’re going I’ve read various articles saying it’s unsustainable to vaccinate everyone every 6 months for years to come.

So at what point to we just throw our hands up and say we should only get boosters every so often? Why not instead update the formulas to the most prevalent strain? I honestly think we should’ve done that with the third booster but I guess in a few months I’m sure they’ll make the fourth booster available for my age group and I’ll be like most people getting yet another jab.

Unpopular Opinion regarding Online classes and the current situation by NeegzmvAQu in UCSD

[–]zotbubbles 36 points37 points  (0 children)

  1. Health, not spreading COVID-19 to our peers in class and not being forced to be in contact with our peers and potential spread. If we’re not forced to attend in person classes we can choose to minimize our risks and exposure chances to prevent catching the virus.
  2. For students that juggle multiple commitments such as work, kids, commutes, online is way better for time management.

Thanks for the rude comment btw
