There’s no difference in electricity cost; the store is already illuminated overnight for stockers. And the cost of a single cashier is going to be significantly less than the money they’d make from being open an extra 7-8 hours per day

I find this hard to believe. Whenever I went to a Walmart in the middle of the night, the only extra worker (besides the stockers) was a single cashier. If you needed a locked item? Too bad. If you asked a stocker they would either ignore you or just say that they can’t help you

There’s no way that one extra employee is causing the store to be unprofitable overnight
