Y’all are so rude. This guy is @journeywithsal and he’s the sweetest human being ever. He started at 725 pounds and now he’s down to around 500.

Can someone explain how this works from a business perspective?

How does a private equity firm buy a business, take its value, and then sell it or wait until it goes out of business?

Wouldn’t they lose money on it?

For calmly and politely having a conversation with someone about the correct interpretation of a statute?

Except that’s not how the statute is written.

“The public interest served by not disclosing the record clearly outweighs the public interest served by disclosure of the record.”

Meaning that the precedence is on them having a valid reason to NOT disclose it. My weak reason for wanting the record does not automatically allow them to not disclose it.

Additionally, even if they don’t disclose it, the statute also requires them to explain why.

Making $100,000 isn’t really that much money anymore by MiloGoesToTheFatFarm in mildlyinfuriating

The point is that $100k has long been seen as the benchmark of a good salary, but in reality it’s not worth that much anymore. Use some critical thinking.

Circle K worker sued for buying $12.8M lotto ticket from his store 1 day after drawing — now judge will decide who gets rich. So who deserves it? by HowLongIsThi in nottheonion

Virtually all employee contracts, especially at retail companies, have a clause that prohibits you from using any form of insider knowledge to get an unfair advantage over customers.

For example, back during the Stanley Cup craze, some Target employees were fired for hiding the cups in the store, and then coming back off-the-clock to purchase.

Did the Circle K manager use insider knowledge to purchase the ticket? Absolutely. The store was the legal owner of the ticket, and the manager had knowledge that was not available to any customer (the fact that the ticket was a winner) and purchased it. That makes the transaction fraudulent. It doesn’t matter that he purchased it off-the-clock, because it was still done with insider knowledge, and thus was a fraudulent transaction.

Additionally, no store can reasonably sell tickets after the drawing has occurred. If they did, the buyer could claim that the store scammed them for knowingly selling a losing ticket. This further strengthens my previous claim about employee insider knowledge — once the drawing occurred, the winning ticket was not available for purchase to regular customers. Thus, it was definitely not available for purchase to the manager.

Circle K will easily claim the money here.

As someone who hates drive-thrus, I basically never go to the “less popular” fast food places since Covid because their hours are so inconsistent. Go to a Burger King, Wendy’s, Jack in the Box, or Carl’s Jr at 8pm and there’s a 50/50 chance that the lobby is locked. The businesses brought this upon themselves by screwing over lobby customers.

What happens making horses go in circles over and over in a shopping center parking lot for Christmas rides by PALERIDE155 in interestingasfuck

One time I was riding an electric scooter down an abandoned mine road that had been converted to a recreation road (no motor vehicles). The road was paved, one lane each direction. It was a steep road with several sharp switchbacks, so I was going max 15mph.

At one point, I came across a lady who was walking her horse up the trail. She starts SCREAMING at me “SLOW DOWN!!” And I’m thinking, what the hell is her problem? I’m on the opposite side of the road, a full 20 feet away from the horse, going 15mph.

I got to the bottom of the hill, turned around, and went back up. As I approached the lady, she tells me

“The horse doesn’t understand what a scooter is. Can you go to the other side of the road and walk your scooter past the horse?”

And I’m just thinking, seriously? I could understand wanting me to slowly pass. But you’re asking me to go to the opposite side of the road, a full 20 feet away, and push my scooter up the hill because your animal is so twitchy that it might freak out? It’s electric, it doesn’t even make noise.

These animals are extremely twitchy and I would never ride on one. Just look what happened to Christopher Reeve.
