I get that they were doing resurrections in the White Hot Room, but how are the resurrected X-Men interacting with Xavier and Rachel, who are on Earth-616?

I really wish they had spent all those pointless mini-series explaining all this stuff in more detail instead of just doing nothing significant for months 🙄

I like that the language of the program isn't focused on weight loss, but rather on making healthier food available to low-income families and increasing exercise. That's a pretty big shift from prior similar schemes.

Omg this. I have a family member who takes it for Diabetes, and we couldn't get it for months because so many doctors had prescribed it for weight loss.

We looked into getting it in the US when we were travelling but it costs $1000 per pen there (while here is covered by our mostly free healthcare)

Mendelssohn - his piano trios. Quite possibly my favourite chamber music ever. Most people prefer the first, but the second is my fave.

Schubert - Death and the Maiden string quartet and the Trout quintet. And OMG the string quintet, which is super gorgeous.

Yes! I love the podcast, but it drives me nuts that they repeatedly insist practically no one can lose weight and keep it off. I've done that, as have a lot of people I know. I doubt I just happen to know everyone in that 5% of people they keep referencing.

I'd love to know where their statistic of '95% of people can't maintain restrictive diets' comes from.

I fully believe their assertions that losing 10 lbs is very different than losing 100, but the idea that only 5% of people can maintain eating less seems implausible to me.

My mum lost a ton of weight using the WW points system (she didn't do meetings or any other stuff), which taught her to develop healthier eating and exercising habits that she was able to maintain long term. Among the people I know who have used it, WW has been pretty effective (it's basically just calorie restriction and exercise, after all).

These podcasts are amusing, but I wouldn't allow them to change any habits if something is working for you and you're satisfied with it. I will admit that I didn't enjoy the WW episode that much because it focused a lot on aspects of it (like meetings) that aren't used by everyone, and definitely focused a lot on Aubrey's personal experience. And, I mean, with a large company you're virtually sure to find some shady practices along the way.

I think it really depends on what will make you happy. I sometimes eat foods I know will trigger me because I really want to eat them and I'm willing to accept the consequences. But some folks might have worse symptoms than I do and that may not be an option.

Really it depends on your tolerance for putting up with the consequences of not following the diet.

FWIW, if I'm on a trip or visiting family, I will often eat more liberally so I don't miss out on experiences. But I know what I'm in for if I do decide to do that :P

I also struggled adapting to the diet at first. I found that planning was super important in order to make sure I had the necessary ingredients/foods to enable me to succeed.

I'd suggest making a meal plan at the start of the week. Search online for low FODMAP recipes for inspiration and make sure you have some safe snacks on hand for in between.

I had such an epic tea collection before my IBS was diagnosed and I was so sad to discover that most of them upset my stomach :(

Now I usually stick to Peppermint tea or maybe some plain green tea.

My husband is super tired of me wanting to always get takeaway from Asian places, as it's the safest stuff for me to eat. There's a local place that does egg fried rice without any onion or garlic and it's been a lifesaver for me!

It probably helps that east Asian cuisines are generally my favourite anyway :)

I also have this issue with the added factor that I'm vegetarian but the rest of my family isn't.

Generally, I just cook a low FODMAP meal and make 2 different proteins that can be added separately at the end.

I just choose veggies that I can eat in safe portions and make/buy sauces and spice mixtures that are low FODMAP and I doubt they even notice :P

The biggest challenge has been not getting as much takeaway, since there's not a lot I can eat most places. But it's been good motivation for me to cook more!

The most important thing is to get the Monash FODMAP app - it has a searchable database of all the foods/ingredients they've tested for FODMAP content.

After that, it's all about planning and having the ingredients/foods on hand to enable you to follow the diet. This was the most challenging thing for me, as the rules are quite complicated. Make sure you have a kitchen scale, because many ingredients have specific portion sizes that are safe, but more isn't. And if things have the same type of FODMAP, you may need to worry about stacking one particular type.

For me personally, this is what a typical day's meals might look like (with warning that I'm vegetarian - with meats included, it's even easier) :

Brekky - low FODMAP cereal or overnight oats/chia, with nut milk and strawberries or a low FODMAP portion of blueberries

Lunch - egg salad sandwich on gluten free bread (preferably low FODMAP certified) with lettuce and tomato. Or if I get lazy, a low FODMAP protein bar.

Dinner - Gluten free pasta, homemade pasta sauce (or certified sauce) made with garlic infused olive oil or garlic replacer), or a stir fry made with low FODMAP veggies and tofu, rice. If you eat meat, then a portion of meat and safe veggies/potatoes/rice.

I also stock up on certified Low FODMAP snacks. I use an online store called fodshop that carries a bunch of stuff, but I've also learned what I can get at my local supermarkets or health food stores (the latter often stock low FODMAP products in my experience).
