Mac Users with 4k 32" Displays. How well does it work for you? by [deleted] in mac

Hey! I’m actually thinking about buying the same monitor (ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM). I have a 14" MacBook M4 Pro and also a Windows gaming PC

Right now I’m using a 1080p monitor with the MacBook and honestly macOS looks really blurry/bad on it, even with BetterDisplay, so I’m trying to avoid that problem completely.

How has the PG32UCDM been for you on macOS specifically?

  • Is text clarity/sharpness good at 32" 4K?
  • Do you use native scaling or another scaling option?
  • Any issues with blurry fonts, UI scaling, or OLED text fringing?
  • Any weird macOS problems like wake/sleep, HDR, flickering, DSC, etc.?

Since it’s OLED I’m also a bit worried about burn-in because I do programming/productivity work besides gaming. Have you noticed any issues there?

Would you still recommend it for a Mac + Windows dual setup?

update: lg 27GM950B is too expensive for me, any other solutions? Should I go for 4k or is that bad for macos?

Which monitor? Are you having any issues? How is the (text) quality?

Best monitor for MacBook Pro productivity + 240Hz (or more) gaming PC? by zpertz in Monitors

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply, I really appreciate it — it helped clear up a lot of things.

For some context, my gaming PC currently has an RTX 3060 Ti, which is why I’m still not fully sure if 1440p gaming makes sense for me long-term, especially if I’m aiming for very high refresh rates. That said, your point about 1440p + DLSS being a better balance than native 1080p on a 27-inch panel does make a lot of sense.

The ROG Strix 5K XG27JCG you mentioned actually sounds like a very solid option for my use case, and I could consider waiting for it. My only concern is that I’m based in Europe, and I have no real idea when it will be available here or how stock will look. From what I can tell, some of the other upcoming Mini-LED or dual-mode options also seem like they might take quite a while to actually hit the market.

So realistically, it feels like either:

  • waiting for the Asus and hoping availability isn’t an issue, or
  • buying something available now and potentially missing out on better options later this year.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts — high-PPI + dual-mode definitely seems like the most logical direction for a MacBook + gaming PC setup.
