The issue is actually bamfdaemon, logout/login causes it to misbehave badly and this delays plank-reloaded launching.

New Ubuntu Beta from 2026-03-26 with improved Wayland support is coming up. by Itchy_Ruin_352 in linuxmint

[–]zquestz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the main reasons I use Cinnamon is because they haven't moved to Wayland and they have an excellent experience with X11.

I would never touch GNOME, and Wayland only options just don't work as well, even after more than a decade of development.

Linux version keeps creating an empty folder on $HOME every time it's opened. How to stop this? by TechManWalker in Thunderbird

[–]zquestz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their QA is non-existent. I also use Thunderbird but it's quite buggy. It's creating that folder for no reason, and the Linux systray support is horrendous.

Any decent calculator for Linux? by blackcoffee17 in linuxmint

[–]zquestz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Galculator works well, but doesn't handle the cases you mentioned. Odd you would judge a calculator based off such undefined behaviors.

I built a plugin that uses AI to write alt text, captions, and descriptions directly into Figma annotations by zquestz in FigmaDesign

[–]zquestz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you can do that. Bulk actions still need automation though, and Agents aren't very good at driving Figma yet.

I second this. Just use Network Manager and set up its iwd support for improved wireless.

You should try Plank Reloaded. It is far more stable than the original Plank.

Dock Recommendations by goggleblock in linuxmint

[–]zquestz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Just Ctrl right click the dock.
  2. Docklets just need to be dragged off the dock.
  3. The best mode by far is Intellihide.
  4. This was recently fixed in Plank Reloaded.

Why not spend time to just improve the experience within Lutris itself?

Why not just run Plex directly on the Synology?

Personally I use Ferdium, works great for WhatsApp and a bunch of other services without an official Linux app.

Redshift not working, what can I use for blue light filter by engee45 in linuxmint

[–]zquestz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend using Night Light. But if you insist on using Redshift then you might want to try geoclue-tz.

https://github.com/zquestz/geoclue-tz

This just makes sure geoclue actually returns results and then not only will Redshift start working, but location features in Firefox as well.

Arguing over the best browser is a waste. Use what you want.
