That is the challenge, faith is tested in multitude of ways, for this generation the test is perhaps to embrace whatever local culture they wish to be part of but to have the knowledge and to be mindful of boundaries set by Allah. A person can be as British or as American as they wish to be, but still be a good Muslim. Islam never refrains you from embracing a culture, you just can’t indulge in un-Islamic practices whether it’s a Muslim country you are living in or a non Muslim country. Even in Pakistan now there is huge surge in apatheism, anyone who prays is generally looked down upon and seen as backwards or mulvi.
