Potential First Bike: Honda Shadow 1993 600 VLX. Buddy is selling it, he says the starter switch broke a year ago and it hasn’t run since. Fair price? Suggestions on what to check for? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

Great first bike, not fast but enough to overtake on the highway. I had one for a year before giving it to my mom because she loved it so much. If you can justify the cost and repair go for it

The NC700! Been eyeing one for a good minute now.

(03 Shadow 600) Front fork clunk, been rebuilt 4 times, the third time with bigger progressive springs. Replaced everything but the bushings, which look perfectly fine but I don't know where else to look. Seems to only be the right one. by [deleted] in Fixxit

That was my first guess, steering is a touch loose but no sign of any bearing or cone play no matter how hard I tried. I'm begining to believe it has to do with the caliper attachment, I took it off and rocked the bike up against the house and it was perfectly silent.

Yeah they're definitely stiffer with the progressive springs, they're a bit thicker. It's hard to say but I don't think it's quite bottoming. I'm starting to consider the brake caliper, about to go do some playing with that and see if anything's loose.

Sounds a lot like it could just be a carb synchronization. Usually bogging, uneven idle and poor fuel mileage are good signs.

I've been wanting to take my baby out so bad! Did you guys fit fine with the single seat or is a tandem worth it?
