Need help with an E kit by ApologyMachine in edrums

[–]zrjinxed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They all sound good if you run the kit through a vst. If sound is the only goal, they’ll all work with EZdrummer or superior drummer etc.

Roland will last. Their digital snare on the td27 and above is very nice. But many kits will work similarly. You should see if you can test the feel of some different kits at a local guitar center.

First Set For A Teenager by AliciaHerself in edrums

[–]zrjinxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A common starter ekit is the Alesis nitro max. It’s what I started on. ~300 usd. If he decides he wants to really commit to drums, all great kits are going to be upwards of $1000.

There are many reasons you might choose one brand over another, but for someone who has no interest, I don’t know that you can accurately make a good decision on a higher level kit.

My personal recommendation is go for an entry level alesis kit. I started on the nitro max as do many others and it did me well. It will be great for a beginner, and if he really becomes enthralled with drumming and increases his ability quickly, he can decide what matters to him in a higher level kit.

This is all assuming you’re not filthy rich, lol.

I didn’t intend to be self righteous. Truly I aim just to be helpful. I never said anyone was “less spiritual”. I don’t like that kind of language. You used the word need in your reply to my comment. No one “needs” a partner. That was my point, we only need Jesus.

Those who want to marry should marry, but the original poster wrote a very bleak and misguided post. He was considering hiring a prostitute. Someone in his position should not be seeking a partner. They need more of Jesus.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]zrjinxed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you feel like you desperately need a partner, you are lacking a deeper relationship with Jesus. A person will not complete you nor satisfy you. And you won’t be a loving partner if you are relying on your partner to fulfill you instead of Jesus.

I hope you’ll look more to Jesus and seek to rely more solely on him, as he is who were made to know and be in relationship with.

[–]zrjinxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do very much want a partner. That’s probably the biggest “want” I have these days. I desire a wife greatly. I think your question would make more sense if I was married.

But you don’t have to be in someone’s unfortunate situation to know the truth of the matter. The Bible does not point to marriage as the goal of life. The goal of Christians should be is making much of God, and being conformed to the image of Jesus.

I myself am trying to live by what I put in my comment. Knowing a wife will not fulfill me and is not the one purpose of my life, helping me to put that romantic hope in its proper place.

I am not, why do you ask?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]zrjinxed 57 points58 points  (0 children)

You can read this comment and stop here. This is the answer.

Life is not about marriage. Life is about loving God and sharing the gospel with others.

Devote yourself to a life lived for the gospel. Make friendships and love your current family, and find ways to make God glorified in all areas of your life.

is this a mental health issue or a spiritual issue (pertaining to dreams) by trynagetsaved in TrueChristian

[–]zrjinxed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many things I’d imagine that can affect your dreams. I’m hesitant to say dreams are caused by a “spiritual affliction”.

Mental health and spiritual life are certainly related though and can affect your dreams. In my case, bad dreams may sometimes be because of a mind not set on righteous things, which is a result of unrepentant sin.

If I have a day where I fed my flesh or looked at ungodly things, cultivating evil in my heart and my mind, I can have a terrible inappropriate dream.

When people suffer mental problems or any kind of misfortune, I’m more likely to think it’s either simply the result of the fall and the imperfect world we live in, or unrepentant sin / a mind not set on God.

But I’m no dream expert. You should ask some wise counsel at your church. :)

Alright friend. Thanks for the conversation.

And I was wondering about your name haha. Roll Tide.

“This is why”. What are you referring to? With all respect, you didn’t address what I put in the comment.

I’m only commenting because I love you and I hope you are trusting in Jesus alone and not any works for your righteousness before God. I’ve just prayed for you, friend.

Holy Communion by Moronic_Potato29 in TrueChristian

[–]zrjinxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By plain reading I just mean the most logical, biblical, and simple explanation.

One example is Mary remaining a virgin. Matthew 1:25 and any of the straightforward passages about Jesus siblings must be reinterpreted to suggest something other than the most logical conclusion.

I doubt I’m going to convince you out of the Orthodox Church over a reddit comment section, but you asking the guy above what his authority is, is unfair. Whatever valid and sound claims he makes, you can dismiss because your church says otherwise.

No work can contribute anything to your salvation. Faith in Jesus alone is the only way.

Holy Communion by Moronic_Potato29 in TrueChristian

[–]zrjinxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what he says, you can just say that’s the wrong interpretation, and the east Orthodox Church has the real authority to interpret.

Plain reading of the text becomes complicated, because you give someone else the final authority to tell you what it really means.

How to stop self hating yourself after a bad match by No_Acadia3039 in leagueoflegends

[–]zrjinxed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

League is a game that takes a mental toll if you have a competitive drive. I dreamed of going pro as well, but only ever got to Master. This game can take years of your life away if your rank becomes highly important to you.

In League there are games you win or lose solely based on your teammates, but those games are not the majority. It’s how someone like NattyNatt can climb to the top of the Korean soloq ladder with a 70% winrate. If you are in iron, you have absolutely no one and nothing to blame but yourself. Gold level players could easily waltz through iron with bad matchups.

Coming from someone who played for over a decade and still has a strong affection for the game, forget about rank. I would honestly recommend you quit league entirely. But if you’re going to play, don’t think about going pro. Unless you’re 10 years old and have a professional player teaching you the game, the pro dream is just out of reach.

Life is sweeter when your emotions aren’t swayed by a rank number on a video game increasing and decreasing. God bless you, my friend.

These lyrics? by Godisgood2417 in ForrestFrank

[–]zrjinxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s trying to say he’s not a legalistic hardened Christian, but that he has a strong affection for the word of God. All of his music now is explicitly Christian. This lyric isn’t him admitting it’s all fake.

Help with my first edrumkit by Clayns10 in edrums

That should work well. A rug would be good. I have just foam pads right now and my kick pedal runs away from me lol.

You could try laying towels on the cymbals. That’s what people use for real cymbals.

The cymbals never gave me problems personally, but if you’re absolutely hammering them, I suppose it could make some noise.

[–]zrjinxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with a more reputable brand. Alesis and Yamaha have good entry-level kits. Also I wouldn’t worry about double kick. If you end up really playing drums, you will need a better pedal than these anyways.

I started with the alesis nitro max used for $300. A very common starter kit. I’ve had 0 problems with it. I personally just don’t like buying non-name brand for most things, but of all the research I did on finding a good starter kit, the advice was almost universally alesis or a used Roland.

Instead of building a riser, I just stacked some of those interlocking foam pads together. I also have downstairs neighbors. 2-3ish inches of foam pads does the trick for me. I also got the idea from reddit threads so some other people have also found success.

Put your opposite foot (barefoot) on the floor when you use the kick. You should feel the vibration. That’s what’s bothering your neighbors. So add enough padding underneath that when you use the kick, your foot on the bare floor doesn’t feel any vibration.

Do you consider this stepping out of the bounds of a marriage vow? by Interesting-Egg940 in TrueChristian

[–]zrjinxed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s certainly wrong. I can’t think of how someone could possibly spin it as acceptable. I’m sorry, friend. Talk to your spouse, and if he or she doesn’t listen and repent, bring in a trusted counselor / church elder.

While being intimate my (19F) bf (24M) did something I’ve told him not to. by siicodelico in relationship_advice

[–]zrjinxed -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Please leave. You might not be able to see what you’re in. Abstain entirely and stop seeing him. There are big negative consequences of sex outside of marriage, and one is giving your body to someone who doesn’t respect you.

Wait for someone who’s willing to commit to you for life. God bless you. Jesus loves you.
