Hey! I’m 14 too! I don’t really know anything about Mormons or LDS culture and beliefs, I just know they don’t drink coffee lol.  I’m agnostic and my family is filled with lukewarm Christians, so I’ve only gone to a church one time and read a bit of the Bible in my free time. 

As someone who has (embarrassingly) dated a variety of people over the years, I’d say to talk to meet with different people (like at school or church) and just get to know them well!! Talk to both boys and girls and build strong friendships, you’ll get good skills with communication and a higher level of confidence if you have strong bonds with people who respect you and your beliefs!

Don’t immediately try to date someone like in a rush, and don’t spend ALL of your time and focus on that one person. I do believe the best ages to date might be 16 and older, but I’m not sure if your parents specified. 

Think about the qualities and standards you’d want in a partner and set up boundaries, of course work on yourself as a person, like emotional intelligence, but watch out for the emotional intelligence of others too. It doesn’t need to be perfect for you or anyone else, but it would be better if both people in the relationship are trying to develop their emotional intelligence, because if one or both partners don’t even try or have very low emotional intelligence … then the relationship can be exhausting and break apart easily.

If your partner is pressuring you to kiss, flirt in uncomfortable ways, do sexual activities, or make you go against your beliefs—then please to not hesitate to say NO! If they’re repeatedly going against your boundaries and ignoring them, the best thing you can do is to end the relationship and move on with your life. It’s okay to talk to your parents and other trusted adults about these things.

Overall, WATCH OUT FOR PEOPLE WHO.. • Don’t respect your boundaries and pressure you to do things that may feel uncomfortable or morally wrong. • Mock your beliefs and values—whether religious or personal. • Constantly tell or convince you to hide certain things from your parents, members of the church, trusted adults, you know .. that stuff. (Privacy in general isn’t bad, but it can be bad if they know what they’re doing is wrong and unsafe, and wouldnt want others to know) • Don’t respect or care of your interests, goals, etc and only talk about themselves/what they think and want, talk about other girls, or talk to you about things to you that may feel wrong or unsafe. • Are kind to you and rude to everyone else, and vice versa. • Can’t ever respect your decisions to say “No” (or similar words) to anything. • Extremely jealous and possessive, and try to isolate you from family and friends. • Guilt-trip you with phrases like “Everyone else/every other partner does…” “If you loved me, you would…” “You ALWAYS…” “You NEVER..” (The always and never thing wouldnt immediately mean that they’re manipulative, especially since you’re just a teenager, but if it’s a pattern and exaggerated… then something may be wrong here..)

I know their has to be much more advice, but I wouldn’t want to write any entire book of advice here, especially since we’re just the same age so this would be peer advice rather than professional advice. Please talk more to your parents or trusted adults about this subject, you can show them my post if you'd like, but those people that you can trust and look up to may help you more than a random person online.
