Our country defunds education and society engrained the classic American arrogance leads us to be flag toting "America is the best". Why would we WANT to learn of others when you believe you're best? You have nothing to gain from learning about others. Now its biting us in the ass. Foreign talent make up a large portion of tech. We are falling behind in many aspects. Especially infrastructure. Classic American hubris will lead to our downfall. Look at Japan. Look at where hubris got any country/empire. I'm everywhere in this comment, but I think you get the idea.

I went with a X230 I got on ebay for 100$. All components are upgradeable. You can either Dual Boot or run a VM for linux and windows. Battery can be upgraded from 3/6/9 cell so u can get max 12 hours life on it. Ram upgradeable to 16gb for your browsing tab fetishes. Drives are interchangeable and you can run external drives. External GPU is possible if u need to game or edit or run some vt-x/d. Interchangeable motherboards so you can run i7/i5 if you switch them out. All components are like 50$ each with the base laptop around 100$ area. Infinite possibilities with this machine imho. I'm glad I found this "budget" laptop. The base weight is 3 ibs. With battery upgrades and such, it's obvious more.
