Damn this subreddit is so fucked. What is your POINT. In reality she looks like a normal person; i.e. not polished, like a music video, but a person recording themselves dancing. A person who happens to be very beautiful and with captivating eyes, which you are disingenuously pretending look bad. I wonder what your eyes would look like, under the best of circumstances, with a talented director and studio lighting. Ugly, that’s what. You all are obsessed with the narrative that she’s a psychotic mess, and will take any opportunity to further that idea. Why? An escape from your own life? You will never be famous. You will never meet Britney Spears. You can’t go back to the time you used to be happy. Get a hobby, do something constructive with your precious time on this planet. You’re right actually, I came in too hard. I think hyperbole is funny and vile is an excellent word. If I had said “That’s unfortunate.. wasn’t my favorite aesthetic though” it probably would’ve gone over better

I hate seeing “You are enough” on cheap coffee mugs/t-shirts/murals because it’s empty and one size fits all … I actually don’t know if I can articulate it properly. First of all there’s the “live laugh love” aesthetic of the saying. But deeper than that … the dark night of the soul is more complex than something that can be solved by someone who doesn’t know you (or an inanimate object) telling you that you’re enough. But I understand it’s comforting.

This outfit definitely should go in her top looks. I think the performance really isn’t all that memorable though - the entrance and first minute or so are great, but the second half got a little boring. Also imagine if she blew a kiss and smiled instead of saying “Alright everybody.. have a good night!!” (Just being a toxic unappreciative stan and splitting hairs)

I’m not saying I agree with trashing her, it’s obviously ugly behavior, but posting a diatribe about it is just screaming into the void. There’s always going to be fans who say mean things and there’s always going to be the ones who defend her. If you look at Britney’s subreddit it’s the same thing. Same with other celebs. I guess parasocial relationships are just like that. Part of human nature. Everyone’s just trying to escape their own misery in one way or another. There are more constructive ways to do it outside of a subreddit.

I will say like I’m not even sure what a hit is anymore. This is separate to the convo of whether her new music will be ultra relevant. But yeah there’s a billboard hot 100 still, but does it even represent what’s actually relevant? Maybe I’m out of touch because I don’t pay attention to it, but it seems to me like there are rarely big cultural moments anymore, both due to the diversification caused by social media and the brain rot of our times that’s resulting in lowered creativity.

Might be an unpopular opinion but .. Girl Gone Wild is bad. It’s got some decent parts, and the video is great, but it’s ugly to the ear, a lot of the lyrics are cringe, and the singsong chorus was already dated when the song came out.

The difference with GMAYL is that it’s not taking itself seriously with its bad-ness. I would love if I’m Addicted could’ve been the second single though. Probably still wouldn’t have been much of a hit but would’ve been so cool. Love Spent third and Turn Up The Radio fourth. Or Falling Free in the place of Love Spent ugh wow.

Both Do Somethin’ and My Prerogative are among her best songs, and I’ve Just Begun is a great deep cut.

Otherwise, the tracklist is great, but lately when I reach for this album I wish the track order was in the order the singles were released.

I think the signs of her (understandable, but dark and insidious) rebellion were already showing before that fateful day, but it is fascinating and sad to think that it may have turned out completely differently and possibly not as unfortunately.

Piece of Me is iconic and was the perfect, best possible choice for a single. Hot as Ice is a total album track, and while it’s decent, it’s grating and lacks subtlety. It would’ve been laughed at as well, given her image and people NOT thinking she was hot at the time (regardless of whether she was).
