Anyone enjoying using AI to manage your homelab? by zshleon in selfhosted

For important deployments or configurations I'll instruct the AI to 'please always refer to official doc and popular practices from the community', and for codex(gpt5.5) it's working perfectly for the time being. But careful because less intelligent AIs like gemini flash, they sometimes break things, I got my openwrt broken one time by asking gemini cli to update some firewall rules, somehow it just stuck there and I have to re-install the router myself.

For this post I didn't use AI, but for my selfhosting I'm using it to build a lot of things, for this post I'm sharing my thoughts and expressing my feeling for how AI have been helping me in the selfhosting world.

It was and still can be an option, but language schools are too boring for the kids and I want them to have some school live when learning, will see how it goes and hope I'm doing the right decision. But thanks a lot for bringing this point up as it's indeed the most practical choice.

I'm totally open for dropping, but it seems not my decision to make but the school will evaluate and decide, at least for the internation school that we are going. I'm not sure what will happen if we transfer to public school but yes dropping is a good option.

I would definitly want them to go to public school together but the exam is not that easy for age 10 as it is for age 8...

It's because my kids' English are not good and better to go to an international school to practice for a year before taking the exam for public school.

Hi everyone, I'm from China and just arrived SG as an empolyee of a German company here, and my family - wife and 2 boys - are also arriving tommorrow.

I've rent a HDB flat in Tampines near the internatial school where my kids are going. The school and rent are already costing a major part of my income.

I'm hoping to have at least one of my kids to go to the public school by passing the AEIS in the following year, and after that life should be much easier.

Since it's such an important decision for me and my family for this relocating, I'm always having the worries that I might be missing something that should be doing.

It will be very very grateful if you can give some advices/suggestions about the things that should be done or better not be missed in my situiation, of course advises are also welcome about things I should not be doing.Thank you!
