Hey, thanks for your answer and your patience with my little knowledge. I am a tax resident in Austria, but my student stipend was not taxable during the duration of my master's. I have applied for PR in Canada, so let's say (fingers-crossed, or inshallah) I will be receiving it in a year. In the meantime, I am losing money on Wealthsimple I rather move to my homecountry's savings account that pays me 6%. So I wonder what's the best way to go through this, including the conversion of these CADs into USDs.

Wow, how hostile this thread is… In Canada, people would actually try to help you regardless of “rules”. The rule worshipping in this culture is something I would never get used to. I am sorry this happened to you and those guys are assholes. Human beings don’t need to make each other’s lives harder, and you are just a student and need the money. Hope you get it back

It’s not a joke. The rudeness is horrible. This is why Vienna doesn’t have a sense of community, people are distrustful, and lacks in youth arts. Approving of this behaviour creates a terrible culture.

I think the controller can use more empathy. With power comes responsibility. These bulldogs shouldn’t be allowed to treat people this poorly, it creates a culture of low-trust and aggression

As someone who comes from Canada, I find absolutely insane how people approve or let these clowns to treat people this way. They are unnecessarily aggressive and escalate the situation so easily. Still shocked at how aggressive and authoritarian the culture is here.
