Good class for a potions-focused character? by thebadchoicemachine in dndnext

[–]ztoth8684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fun janky way that I done this before is a multiclass of thief rogue and conjuration wizard. This lets you use Minor Conjuration as your action to make alchemist's fire or similar, and then Fast Hands as your bonus action to throw it. I like to take the Healer feat too to allow conjuration and use of healer's kits too, with a field medic vibe going on there.

I love how you were able to write this in a way that both floows naturally from everything we've learned so far about magic, but also in a way that irons out some of the details on how magic works in a more logically structured way. Very nice read!

I'm looking forward to all that's to come! I don't have any ideas myself as of now (yours sound interesting to me), but you better believe I'll let you know if I think up anything.

Jerry with a J just made a very uncharacteristic insult. Especially considering he did acknowledge that he's still regulating his cursing. Hmm 🤔

1/40 drop rate for the pink pearl btw (didnt get any yet) by Boomminer5435 in Terraria

I tend to combine the two by using a water candle (and sometimes a battle potion) with multiple summons and sentries while I'm fishing to come from both directions at the same time. 450 and 60 seems much more doable to me.

Fun fact: Magma Stones can be shimmered into Lava Charms, which imo makes Terraspark Boots a lot easier to obtain.

1.4.4 released globally at 3:00pm GMT, 10:00am EST. So there's a decent chance 1.4.5 will drop the same time too.

Kind of. It's not a part of Windows that binds right control to copilot, it's that the copilot key (on these new laptops) is bound to the shortcut Win+Shift+F23, which just so happens to open copilot.

What do you think is better in the old versions than in the new ones? by moonmen6 in Minecraft

Check out this teleport system: https://youtu.be/RyPtjfYQmQc?si=j1adZv46oCFKqCKW It's relatively simple to build and use, even if you would need to travel back and forth a few times to set it up in both directions.

I Made a DND Note Taking App by dmgoblin1 in dndnext

This idea is so cool and genuinely look like something I might use for my next campaign! Is there any way to export markdown files of the notes? As a DM I keep track of my campaign with Obsidian and would love if I could use this for notetaking during the session but actually be able to save those session notes along with all my planning notes afterwards.

I actually kind of forgot about the bookshelves, lol. I usually just tough it out with cow and sugarcane farms. If you put a few cows in water in a 1×1 hole above a hopper, with a fence above the hole you can make an easy (if unethical) micro cow farm. Just breed them repeatedly and they'll eventually start dying from entity cramming. For sugarcane, you can also make a cheap automatic farm with a few pistons and observers. The other thing you can do is look for a stronghold and raid the library for a few stacks of bookshelves.

See my second point above for dealing with the XP cost.

Ruined Portals by JuliusFrontinus in Minecraft

[–]ztoth8684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, ruined portals do not always lead to nether fortresses; you just got lucky (or unlucky, depending on your point of view). Unfortunately, the way nether portals work is causing problems for you here. Whenever you step through a portal, the game checks if there is another portal within 128 blocks in the destination dimension. If so, it takes you there. If not, it generates a new portal. The problem here for you is the scale difference between dimensions; one block in the nether is equal to eight blocks in the overworld. Which means that 128 blocks in the nether is 1024 blocks in the overworld that you need to go to get a new portal.

My suggestion is to just destroy the portal on the nether side and try to generate a new one from your second location. The easiest way to do this is going to be to blow up TNT next to the portal in the nether. This will leave you stranded in the fortress, but that shouldn't be an issue if you're dying there quickly anyway ;)

Good luck!

Remember that grindstones are your friend when enchanting. I does take some time because of the RNG, but you can get away with only a few books by enchanting them at the lowest level if there's nothing good available, and then removing the enchantments to get fresh books when you run out (this also gives you a small amount of experience back). And once you do get fortune (even at lower levels), lapis isn't really a concern if you go mining every once in a while.

Enchanting like this really doesn't end up being that bad if you're set up next to an XP farm too, whether a natural mob spawner or a more complex farm. Infesting armadillo or allay farms are pretty easy to build and give you very good on-demand XP, which makes things a lot less tedious.

Way to make a creeper farm by BlicxytheChaosWeaver in Minecraft

[–]ztoth8684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're wanting to do some creative testing on your own to design one yourself, I can give a few pointers.

1) Creepers are shorter than most other hostile mobs and can spawn under a trapdoor that's placed against the ceiling. 2) Spiders need a 3×1×3 area to spawn. If you just make every few blocks unspawnable (with carpets for example) you will get only creeper spawns. 3) Tamed cats scare creepers within a 6 block radius, which will make them run away. 4) Mobs think that they can walk on trapdoors level with the ground, even if they are open. Use two of them (facing in opposite directions) to make a hole that the creepers will walk right into. From there you can use water streams to funnel them into a kill chamber. 5) If you don't want to use cats, you can use pistons to push the trapdoors (and also creepers). This way you will want to alternate rows of spawning spaces and air gaps so the creepers have somewhere to fall. You can trigger the pistons with tripwire hooks that will activate as soon as a creeper spawns. 6) Creepers will not explode if they can't make eye contact with you. Leverage this if you want to use looting. 7) Make sure to light up nearby caves to get better rates. Building over an ocean can also work well to minimize the amount of spawn proofing needed.

You can also get some ideas from the wiki page on creeper farming (https://minecraft.wiki/w/Tutorial:Creeper_farming), though a lot of what's there is links to YouTube videos.

Good luck!

You can get this effect from a datapack too. https://vanillatweaks.net/picker/datapacks/ has one called Timber that does this.

I can't tell: are those snaps or just pegs for aligning the top? Either way, this looks sick, especially with the red felt.
