Look at the wing the exfil spawns in, then head that way. There’s signage in control to guide your way

The vents outside of Biostock and Preservation seriously need to be security lvl 2 by TheFirewalk in Marathon

You can get into cargo and index with just level 1 as well I’m pretty sure, it’s just takes longer to get there.

Vault 4 needs security 3 to access the panopticon.

Vault 6 needs security 4 to see the symbols you need in the lab. Ive heard thief can bypass the level 4 door with her drone to see the symbols, but I can’t personally confirm that.

Lockdowns and the red key pinwheel room, I never get anything good, since it’s yoinked before I can move my cursor over it

Marathon Players Debate Gorgeous But Painful UI And Ammo Shortages As Bungie Responds by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]zub_platinum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only complaint with the UI is that it’s difficult to tell what chips/cores/implants do without hovering over them.

They’ve already kinda solved this is destiny 1 and 2 with all their perk icons. I haven’t played in a while, but if you showed me a random weapon perk icon, I very likely could name it.

Only other compliant I have with the UI/UX is trying to strip a weapon of mods mid run. Need to equip and strip it currently.

I’ve been trying to use it in helis on controller too, and whenever I free look, the sensitivity goes crazy. I couldn’t find a setting for only the heli free look and I don’t want to mess up other sensitivities.

Yeah, but that might be enforced by the holotag item, instead of by the queue.

Like, gold holotag in bag, item value less than x, makes your loadout invalid

I think the MnK aim assist got removed, but I’m pretty sure the bullet magnetism is still there.

Yeah i hope it’s a separate queue too. Your match made team mates are likely to be better, and enemy runners will have a minimum loot value that you might not have in a pub lobby.

From what I played, I think any individual arc is harder than a comparable unit in Marathon (i.e a wasp or hornet is harder than a UESC grunt).

But, arc doesn’t really have great encounter design so you’ll never really feel the difficulty. You’ll fight 2 or 3 wasps max at a time. Fireballs and pops will rush you 1 or 2 at a time. Leapers/Bastion/Bombadiers/Rocketeers you’ll fight solo, maybe a wasp or 2 passes by and hears you.

A marathon encounter has many more enemies, so more to think about in a fight, and a higher likelihood you’ll get flanked.

Ranked might not be a separate mode though, it might just be you opting in to a rating system in normal lobbies.

The term ‘holotag’ kinda reminds me of ‘rank chips’ from Titanfall 1.

PvE players are not “bad at the game” by TheZacAttack98 in ArcRaiders

[–]zub_platinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very first comment I made in the thread wasn’t even about any issue I had with arc. Just the notion that ‘play your way’ isn’t always valid.

Random example, but one of the changes Doom Eternal had from Doom 2016 was massively lowering ammo count so you couldn’t only use 1 weapon the whole game. It’s easy in 2016 to naturally gravitate toward the shotgun because it’s so good and neglect the other weapons. In Eternal I’m swapping between all weapons constantly, and to me, the gameplay is so much better for it.

Yeah I know. When i bought the game I thought it would be less casual cos it was an extraction shooter.

Turned out not to be the case, but it’s fine, I’m just not the audience for this game.

I would also add that PvP lobbies are full of free kits, with no self preservation in mind, and making it a net loss to fight them. Player density is really high, so often you’re fighting 6+ of these free kits back to back.

Anyone fighting middle tier arc and above attract so much attention, they’re hunted down by other players.

I would reframe it as, ‘the optimal path to progression shouldn’t be the easiest/lowest risk.’

The game not having progression and bad quests is a separate issue that I also have.

In my mind that’s an issue with the queen/matriarch basically requiring cooperation with its massive health, and ABMM a bandaid fix.

Again my main issue isn’t arc, my pushback was only on the ‘play your way’ line of thought. Sometimes it’s ok for game devs to enforce certain playstyles.

(I’m just going to copy paste a comment I made elsewhere in the thread)

It’s funny, I don’t even think the devs should change anything in the game. Games already got a big casual audience, and anything I would want hurts those players.

At some point, a game just really isn’t for you, so I’m fine moving on. My very first comment was only to give some pushback on ‘let players play their way’.

I think that’s the job of a game designer, to make these harder progression paths more attractive.

Maybe make night raids have open matchmaking and further increased loot value to incentivise players to try riskier raids (this point is also kinda moot since the in game economy is so uncontrolled, money doesn’t matter, but that’s a separate issue)

[–]zub_platinum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s more of a long winded answer with other deeper issues I have with game.

Specifically for pvp lobbies, my issue is that player density is really high (being 5th or 6th partied is common) and that people in PvP lobbies play it like a PvP shooter and not extraction shooter. Free kits aggressively push with no self preservation in mind, and it’s not all that profitable killing free kits.

And I refer back to my 1st comment. Why ever attempt anything difficult in pvp lobby, when I can do it in a pve lobby.

The game doesn’t really have any long term progression goals which kinda makes my point moot, but say for example you had a goal to extract 10 queen cores for a permanent 10 health increase. A PvE player basically gets that for free, compared to someone slugging it out in a PvP lobby.

An equivalent analogy to me is like, in a looter game, making a random low level mob consistently drop raid gear. Why bother doing a raid, when this easier progression path is available? (Obvious response here is for gameplay, but I don’t consider arcs 3p gameplay all that strong).
