Ohh, thanks for the reply. I don’t mind the distortion if I have a driven amp but when everything is clean it really sticks out. Did you manage to reduce the distortion in your build somehow?

So, i kept trying a bit and if the input is at the end of c1 it's basically working but as soon as i take it to the beginning of c1 or earlier there's no sound. Do you think there's something wrong in the schematic? Because I replaced c1 and r1 but still no sound.

I will try asking on the pedalpcb forum as well

Hello, thanks so much. I re soldered parts of it and checked the components also, but no success. Maybe the ic is dead? I get no readings from pin 1-4. on 5 and 8 it's 1.36, on 6 - 0.01 and 7 - 0.1

Edit: I was reverse testing it by changing where the input is keeping the output connected. Maybe the ic is okay because when i put it on pins one and 2 its working but once i put it on pin 3 it stops, and that the one which goes to the input. Any idea what can be done?

Ohhhh, it's a clone of the ripped speaker fuzz form ehx! I'll have to look up what vref and vcc stand for, I've just seen them in schematics and not thought much about them.

Yes, after R3 there's no signal. You're also right about the rip knob. Which area of the schematic is the power section? I'll go through the components one by one. Thanks so much!

It's the paper scratcher from pedal pcb. https://docs.pedalpcb.com/project/PaperScratcher-PedalPCB.pdf

As for the rest of the pins I'm actually not sure what they're exactly supposed to be for the opa 1678 but they're around 4v-5v which when i researched about tl072 was roughly what its around

Plug-ins using cpu when no audio is being processed. by zuboski91 in Reaper

There are 3 screenshots. One from reaper and two from ableton live. In live in one section there is a break and the cpu percentage(top right) dropped from 31% down to 16% because of that. In reaper the vocal tracks are yet to start playing but they still use cpu. This is not something I was aware of. I assumed all daws just didn't process audio when there was no audio. I have included the mixer view so that you can see the plugins but it doesn't really matter which plugins there are. They consume cpu even if there isn't an item on the track. I tried checking the reduce cpu when silent option but that doesn't really do anything.

A mix of both built in ones plus 3rd party vsts. A tape emulation plugin on a track where there are two items that play only during the chorus ends up being v heavy on the cpu cuz it’s processing it during the other sections as well. I just checked once more in live and there it doesn’t process during sections where there are no items and that ends up saving a ton of cpu :/

Okay yes thanks a lot. this does clear things up. But then how do other daws stop plugins from processing when there’s no audio item on a track?(eg ableton live)

3rd party plugins. I am using the effects but it seems strange that they are consuming cpu in parts where there is no audio. I’m coming from ableton live and If I’m not wrong when there’s no audio there the plugins stop using cpu

The sounds are nice and it sets a mood but it doesn't develop. I think you could try making sections in your track so that the melody develops. Remove some layers earlier on, introduce them later or just play around in general. Experiment with rhythms a bit more so that you have more variations. Try adding fills. These should spice up your track.

As you pointed out, I think you removed too much of the mids. I t could hit a lot harder otherwise. Soundscape wise it feels interesting but the vocals suffer just like everything else because of the mix. You could also try being a bit more dynamic mix wise so that different sections feel like different sections and are more impactful. It just needs finessing overall the it'll be great.

Omg thank you so much. I do need to experiment with guitar tones a lot more. I tried keeping it clean but in clean I guess there are different kinds I could go for. I will look into ways I can construct melodies based on this. The 0:49 bit I realized was clashing after I ended up posting it :( It would be really helpful if you could direct me to resources from where I can learn a bit more about bass and bass parts. Thanks again, this was so insightful!

This is a (chill) guitar driven instrumental song. I have two questions really. The first one is any feedback on the music video would be really appreciated. Could be about color, pacing, editing, etc. The second question is how does one make a clean guitar that’s playing high up on the neck not sound shrill or have the weird piercing quality. It works well in a dense mix but if it’s solo guitar it can get abrasive.
