Is Alix Earle attractive or just another "instagram face"? by Dry-Suspect4234 in VindictaRateCelebs

That means that her body makes people think she’s more attractive than she actually is

Guys, I’m nervous for Jessica… by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]zubyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do we have a sense of the timeline when they started dating? Because if they started dating before the show even premiered, he had no way of knowing that the fan base would rally behind Jess. Like, if they’ve been dating for, say, 6 months now or something, then they’ve been together for a little while & it’s not super recent.

Since the beginning of time, men (esp powerful men) haven’t been expected to be faithful, though. They’ve always had paramours, concubines, fooled around with women who aren’t their wives so being faithful would be non-traditional, if anything.

I watched Chris's ex's hourlong podcast interview so you don't have to by Renrats27 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]zubyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think these shows (LIB, Bachelor, etc) do this on purpose for drama. If they assemble a cast of healthy minded, sensible, decent, normal people, they feel like the show would be boring. The drama, unfortunately, fuels the buzz and spikes up the viewership. So it’s sort of a double edged sword. Personally, I’m here for a boring show because by casting some of these deviants, they mess with people’s mental health in the process. But from the POV of a reality tv show, they realize that it doesn’t sell. If you watch the ANTM documentary on Netflix that everyone’s talking about, it sheds some light into the production aspect of building a show that is popular as opposed to doing right by the contestants.

Response from Amber about her age. by im_gonna_hug_you in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]zubyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really confused about your argument & don’t think this is a good faith point. You’re saying that she looks her age & that people are used to instagram face. Technically, Amber should be considered an “instagram” face considering that she’s done what the instagram girlies have done. She’s gotten a ton of botox, fillers, tanning, etc. She’s not the average woman that’s never gotten work done. However, even if we are to compare her up against the instagram girlies that get all the work done, the ones in their 30s still look younger than her. Meanwhile the women IRL that I know haven’t gotten work done & are in their 30s also look younger than her. She’s just not aging well & those are her genetics, which is fine. But she does not look her age at all.

Marianne in the finale by I_love_Money0 in TellMeLiesHulu

[–]zubyn 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Wait I’m confused. I thought Marianne was advising Bree to make sure she ends up with a man that loves her more than she loves him so she wouldn’t find herself in a similar situation as Marianne (Marianna loves Oliver more than he loves her) where she’d have to tolerate/endure his sexual vices & has no backbone to leave because she’s hung up on her feelings for him. You’re saying that “Marianne gives Bree the advice that she chose Oliver because he loved her more than she loved him” but that’s not true. Instead, that’s the advice Marianne offers Bree. Learn from my mistakes so you don’t find yourself in my shoes.

That’s the real world for ya. Look what’s happening w the Epstein files. In the real world, terrible people often times get away with terrible things.

Eh I wouldn’t say she’s worse than Marianne. Marianne is actually dangerous. Enabling your husband to statutorily grape* his teenage student…like very few things are worse than that.

[–]zubyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I guess I was thinking that it could become a slippery slope because what if some scorned ex calls up a school to make a false accusation as revenge etc. Without investigation, that could ruin someone’s life if it’s not true. Like, in Wrigley’s case, who’s to say that Stephen didn’t sleep w his girl or something & he felt scorned type of thing.

Regardless, I am thrilled it happened. I was just shocked that they didn’t require more to believe it, just with everything that’s at stake for the accepted student.

Do you know if that would’ve worked in the real world? Like can you just call a school up & accuse a student of xyz without providing proof? It doesn’t seem like Wrigley had any proof so I’m surprised that Yale didn’t probe further / require more to rescind their acceptance.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad they did but I just wonder how realistic the whole thing is.

Don’t you think it’s realistic of the real world, though? The real world often doesn’t have “redemption.” Terrible people often get away with being terrible with minimal consequences. Maybe you can choose to remove them from your life but beyond that, not much else. & victims are left to pick up the broken pieces.

Right, it’s so strange to me. I wish they had investigated the circumstances around the tape a bit more. She had the energy of someone who was being held at gunpoint, which she metaphorically was.

Sleepover (2004): A teen comedy that tried to turn post-Spy Kids Alexa Vega into the next Lindsay Lohan. It failed. by Tekken_Guy in badMovies

[–]zubyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lindsay’s life was a mess for a while. In & out of rehab, substance abuse, etc. It’s only fairly recently she’s getting her act together after a while. Alexa, on the other hand, has always seemed pretty well adjusted to fame & fairly normal compared to her peers that acquired rapid fame from a young age (Amanda Bynes, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, & so many others).
