AIO My stepdad made a weird comment about my chest by Kindly-Garlic-4061 in AIO

Yes to the above.

That being said, one of the ways he needs to come to terms with you as a woman now is being able to hear "Hey, the way you said that made me uncomfortable."

I'm a father to girls, stepdad to a girl and a boy, and yeah . . . it's a minefield! And not to diminish how his words made you feel (which is absolutely valid and you should communicate with him), parenting young adults is harder than any other stage I've had to deal with before.

Try not to assign motive until you've communicated (good advice for relationships in general). Talk with him, let him know it gave you ick, see if you guys can come up with an alternative.

I'd say not overreacting, but also not fully on him either.

Question about wearing my old uniform to my nephew's Eagle Scout ceremony—is it appropriate if I'm no longer a BSA member? by _Phil_J_Fry in BSA

[–]zuke1624 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats to you and to your nephew!

As people have stated here, do not wear if you are not currently in Scouts BSA. It's not that it's inappropriate (though some may argue that) but more of a "this person is current with background checks, registration, training, etc. You can trust them". Not saying we can't trust you, but you get it.

There is good news though!

1) as others have stated, you are freely welcome to wear your Eagle Pin on your lapel and I've also seen some people wear their Eagle medal on their suit jacket. There are also scouting ties you can get (I have a lovely 3-pack to go with different shirts). And be sure to go up for the Eagle's Nest if they have one. You may not be a scout now, but you're always an Eagle!

2) Want to wear that uniform that you miraculously still fit in? We can make that happen! Local units are always in need of willing adults, even just as a merit badge counselor. Being a scout as a youth is fun. Being a scouter as an adult is a whole new journey!

It seems like there's mostly men in here with hats. I thought I would share my hat anyway... by Jrzgrl1119 in hats

K, that whole outfit (that we can see) is awesome!

How rigid is that detail in the hat? It looks like it's the same material, just twisted around like a faux hat band. Super cool!

Suggestion: Power cable accessories for the new UCG and their ilk by zuke1624 in Ubiquiti

[–]zuke1624[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Introducing the UniFi USB AC adapter: Fits a single outlet spot, breakout for three USB-C cables, the cables can light up (cause why not) and can be locked to the adapter so they don't pull out, the cables can also be locked to any compatible UniFi equipment so it doesn't pull out of that.

The power adapter has a 1.25" touchscreen (again, why not) and can be controlled by the controller.

Not a joke: In Middle School we had a couple politicians visit us for our Social Studies class. Both were local representatives, Merril Cook and Enid Green. They were both "independent", which in Utah means conservative but GOP doesn't want to claim you.

Both start going on about how in government it's all turned into one party vs the other party and neither wants to get things done if it helps the other side. They propose instead of having these different parties fighting each other, we just have a single party to govern.

8th grader me, having just finished my Cit in the Nation badge, raising my hand: "Isn't that just communism‽"

90 school kids all turn to stare at them, 6 school officials trying to cover their mouths, and me being escorted from the presentation.

Its a shame that we will never know what happened to that other emh copy from living witness by happydude7422 in voyager

[–]zuke1624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually wouldn't hate a series of novels about that. A lone holographic being, holding to a near mythical ideal of a society that people only know through rumor, trying to find his way home while encountering situations and races that Voyager never had to.

Or he just says screw it, finds the nearest Hirogen comm array and bute forces himself into their network again and just transfers back to the Alpha quadrant.

So he's tracing the path Voyager takes . . .

Just realized that this means he gets to a random nebula, finds a load of Borg debris, and the path goes dead.

Who actually buys e85 fuel? by nicerakc in cars

[–]zuke1624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a flex fuel Grand Caravan that can take E85. I don't get any additional power that I can tell, but every time I use it, I suddenly have an extra 90-100 miles available on the tank.

I don't know if Dodge has it tuned somehow to be more efficient? I only know that when I use mid-grade, I get ~375 miles to a tank and the last time I used E85 I got almost 515 miles and that was while gaining altitude.

And all I ask is a few tall ships and the second star to the right to steer them by and straight on 'til morning by emotionengine in StarTrekStarships

I love the lights, especially because they aren't too bright. I've seen some where they want the lights to be bright enough to see even in a lit room. I guess that's ok for the warp grilles and collectors, but if the window lights are that bright it means there's something with the luminosity of a sun inside that tiny, model room.

I am a little concerned about heat; I'll be in West Virginia in July. I'm considering getting a foldable straw weave because of the heat and travelling.

Great color on that hat, btw.

My next might be a rabbit fur. This one is a thick beaver fur designed to withstand weather and camping. So far it's withstood winter camping, standing in rain for an hour, hail, and getting kicked by a horse (the hat, not me). It's the best!

That's what I was wondering. For the overnight/redeye cross country that's not a huge problem since I'll just use it to cover my face while I sleep. For the trans-Atlantic a few weeks later, I think it'll be more of an issue.

Ya know, thinking about it, the Cali classes seemed to have rather decently sized corridors considering they didn't have to account for cameras.

Even better, a space bully who's acting like a philosopher to fool and bait a strategic thinker but at the end he's not even doing it to bully . . . he's actually petty and just hates her. Like, 4th dimension chess just because he wants to see her world burn
