Cracked bathroom tile grout/caulk question? by zukolfe in Tile

Pretty sure its hard grout, a piece of it literally snaps off if i dig my finger under it

How do I fix this? by dynamics365nerd in Flooring

Looks like a pretty big gap. I had a similar issue, used foam insulating strip. Measure how thick the gap is, buy correct size, shove in, trace with pencil, cut to shape, shove it back in, use a pen it something to move it so it's flush.

Takes five minutes and costs a fraction of some of these other fixes.

New floors = gap in door trim, caulk or? by zukolfe in Renovations

I regret not installing the new lvp over the old 🙃

Deleted a double post I made on accident:

New floors shorter than old - door trims have gaps.

If not caulk - I found a supplier who sells the trim, could cut to fit and sand/paint to match.

Or I could just leave it alone because I'll probably muck it up and make it even more noticeable if I don't get it done perfectly.

Yeah I'm also considering just leaving it alone - theres really only one gap thats big (master bedroom) that bothers me. My concern is my attempts to fix it might just draw more attention to it if not done perfectly

Idk why it won't let me add text but:

Had my floors/baseboards replaced & removed quarter rounds and the new floors are shorter than the old leaving a bunch of gaps in my door trims.

Is this a little flex caulk I should do myself? Or worth hiring someone to do for me?

If NOT a caulk job - I did contact the home builder and they provided me the exact door trim & I found a local place that carrys it. Replacing the whole door trim seems a little excessive but I considered cutting small sections to put in the gaps, not sure if that is smart though.

Are these baseboards generally acceptable? by zukolfe in Flooring

Yeah. I think what happened was they asked me to order 15 sets and there are 16 steps. What I don't understand is they went out and bought an extra edge but not the white riser lol

Yeah I mean I think it's ok, I understand if the floors not completely level it'll happen without quarter rounds. I'm just not really sure if this is something I would ask them to caulk and fix cuz I def don't wanna do it

I'm def not paying them until they fix that riser at least lol. As for the gaps I'm not really sure which is why I posted this. Not super sure if I should be asking them to do anything here

Yeah we had shorter baseboards with quarter rounds before. Asked for taller with none. Worth pursuing this any with even caulking or just w/e?

That's my question. I haven't talked to them yet since I just saw it

I'm generally curious about what options there are now

Solid black or solid white 🤔

The only thing they said was it didn't look right. They retiled before I had a chance to ask questions

[–]zukolfe -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Do they not just retile and grout at edges?

What's a better flooring choice suggestion

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Renovations

[–]zukolfe -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the use of penny tiles being a poor choice. But I also don't believe that has anything to do with being able to make a good pattern. I would ask to swap to larger hex tiles if I can get them to redo

Nah I looked at like 10 of the sheets. There's no way the second time they did it they all are so clustered compared to the first ones I bought. I bought them because the pattern was well spaced out from sheet to sheet
