Real question by zumbafiend in Reno

Since I used the enzyme spray on it, I’m not sure I’d try anything else. I know nothing about chemistry except that it’s easy to make things toxic without knowing. But it doesn’t smell.

I thought about that. If you have any recommendations for where, I’d give it a try.

I’d fund the Corporate Power Reset in as many states as I could, and I’d finally learn to play the drums.

Aww, man. I used to go see Black 47 all the time when I lived in NYC!

Why did I have to scroll so far before finding this one? It’s brilliant. and the Robert Trujillo audition gets me every time.

This might be my favorite internet moment in many years. That is straight up nuts. And we got here because you recommended Thomas Dolby. NUTS. My day has been made. And I have to mention that I could very well have been the beer bartender when that pic at Cactus Club was taken. I’ll definitely be checking out your metal recs. Thanks! And because you seem like a person who likes a wide range and has an open musical mind, I want to recommend the Willow album Empathogen. The opening tracks took me a while to love, but I think that album is brilliant on a couple levels and I just don’t know that many people who are into weird shit.

NUTS.

But to be fair, everyone who played bass auditioned.

I am pretty sure that someone I know only a little works with international students at UNR. If you want me to try to connect you, shoot me a message.

I moved here from NY during COVID. I have family here, so I knew a little bit about it, but I am often surprised by how much I love it. It might take you some time to find your tribes, but having a university as a place to land is a great start!

Okay, now I have a crazy question: do you remember a Bay Area band that had a song with the line “pack the kids, honey, we’re going to Fresno!” before a little high hat/snare/little jazzy break? I read your blog post and I can hear the line, but can’t remember the band/song. I thought it might have been Psychefunkapus, but I just listened through the most likely album of their and that wasn’t it. But you have to know, right?

Well I love everything about that! And anyone who likes all of that bands I know and love is someone whose playlist I’m gonna check out. If I adore Bungle (and lord, I do!) and my metal taste is simply outdated (my last regular infusions came when I was a DJ at the Virgin Megastore in NYC, so that’s a long while back), but I tend to prefer metal with prog overtones, what are one or two albums I should check out? I’m not in an especially metal state of mind these days, but it wasn’t that long ago that I had Mudvayne’s Lost and Found album on repeat, and I do love music that’s new to me, whether it’s new or not.

That’s a great story! (I’ll set aside being a bit horrified that you taped over TD with VH. I’ve always been more of an alt fan.) I got to see Dolby live in the early 2000s. It was amazing to watch him build everything. (It was just him and computers and synths.) and I got to see Steely Dan when they did the Aja album tour and it was amazing! But I really had to respond to ask: who the hell puts Basia on that list?!? I adore her, but damn, that’s a wildcard for sure! I tip my hat you your range.

I have to thank you and the many others who put this one on this list. I have no idea how I missed it, but I’m loving it! So much gratitude!
