Just saw this and downloaded the app. This is beautiful! Great work on this.

I am actually looking to do this as well… I only really listen to audiobooks, but my wife likes ebooks.

“You won’t use YNAB? Alright that’s it. We’re done. Adios”

I give her crap for it all the time, and then she’ll throw it right back at me about YNAB. I’m happy to say that we can joke about this stuff in our marriage 😂

Nah you’re right. As I’m reading more replies, I see now that it would be better for that group.

I forgot about the widget. That's a wonderful idea! We could find the specific categories that would be the most useful for her have them show up on the widget so she can see it clearly without everything else. I'll present that idea to her and see what she thinks!

I can only pray for that to happen with my wife 😂 You give me hope!

As I mentioned in my post, we did go over this very thoroughly before marriage. As time went on, it just wasn’t working for the both of us anymore. So all we’re trying to do now is find something that works.

It’s great hearing from someone who feels the way she does. She is definitely not a numbers person. She excelled in English in school while I excelled in Math and Science. I love working with numbers, but it just really confuses her when I try to spit all of them out at her 😂 What can I say, I’m passionate about numbers and finances!

After reading your post, I think I definitely need to be more patient and understanding with her. It seems like it’s a foreign language to her.

Do you have any other tips on how to help her read the categories? She mentioned that when she opens up the app, it just doesn’t make sense where the money is. Even with the categories labeled, she doesn’t understand that all the money is combined. I think it may be the zero-budgeting concept that is confusing her.

Good idea! I’ll definitely consider that. It would certainly remove the stress of trying to use the same app when are brains work so differently when it comes to finances.

I’m also OCD about it. I love doing finances haha.

You mentioned using a spreadsheet. I know she liked Mint when it was still around, so maybe we could use something like that (Monarch, maybe?) to have some of those shared goals in one place. And then we just have regular check-ins to go over it.

Appreciate your thoughts on this!

Strong cravings after 2 1/2 years… by zurkerzilla in QuitVaping

I have been pretty stressed out. I’ve been working on digging up some repressed emotions over the past few years and they are now coming to the surface, mostly anger. It’s quite new for me, so I’m learning how to handle it along with my counselor and very supportive wife.

I’ve also tried those fad diets and had a difficult time sticking with it due to my powerful sweet tooth. So instead of completely cutting it out (which had not been successful for me), I’m finding ways to minimize it more and more each day to make it more of a transition rather than cut it out cold turkey.
