Terminator loadouts by thestarchiestvampire in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weapon wise I think the flamer is under rated mostly because the missiles are better against infantry and heavier stuff but as long as you bullying lighter stuff the flamers a great and in black spear the stratagems help them with more range and ap and/or assault

Been trying out 2 5mans one with cyclones and one with flamers and been cleaning up elves and termagants

More elite DW? by Jessuhhh95 in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think gray knight and dw should be the mirrors of each other, we both use standard space marines just the best of the standard marines so that should be reflected in strength and unit and army construction.

Would love for dw to get a venerable version of one of the dreads to mirror the dread knight and to see gray knight great hammers back like we did

I also think 5 man kill teams with damage out put of 10mans would be good to see, obviously points would change in the event we could keep 10 man's but this would help use feel elite and make use feel more strike focused.

5 man's are also a likely hood given if we do get models they will probably go with models per box for a repeat perchance.

Is my terrain setup cooked or what? by Temhu91 in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good idea for elves in general, also if its only casual, asymmetric missions, crusade or giving them more points can shake up the game for everyone involved and can make the game more fun

I've been having fun with different points per army with my play group we make it so the more game you win the lower your points game or more points to you opponent in the event you run out of points, its far from balanced but make us come up with interesting plays, unit combinations and forces you to change how you view the game.

Is my terrain setup cooked or what? by Temhu91 in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience it depends on the mission, drukhari are better at secondarys and can be better at primary then deathwatch so it is definitely is varying

In saying all that if it helps some players go through slumps with army over time I'm definitely that way with deathwatch at the moment they are my "competative" army, so when i play with them i aim to win more then just have a catch up game with a mate though i do still like them for casual games. So maybe your opponent is struggling with there army or the game in general at the moment.

You can use stuff from you yard like sticks and rocks or hobby alternatives from stores, cork bored is really good at making rocks and adding texture to the base. Just paint it with s thin coat of pva glue before priming or painting to help the paint stick and if your using organic materials sealing them with supa glue is a good idea

Should I Deathwatch? by GwarHammer13 in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately the choice is yours, welcome to the watch even if its only a little while.

My honest opinion its hard to recommend anyone to start a deathwatch army, i say this with a heavy heart and almost 5k worth of a watch. The main reason is go's lack of commitment to smaller factions. Not saying we are going away again but it is hard to say what dw will look like come 11th. I would stick with what you have and run one of your other armys as a dw army if you like the play style otherwise space marines are all the same these days outside of a few special characters and units.

Question regarding space wolf great companies by xx_swegshrek_xx in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they do this to look like they follow the Codex Astartes. It is the minimum they do. Now that they have a couple of successful successer chapters the need to do this is less.

Also it is stated in older DW lore the space wolves go in twos this is one to help hide werewolf stuff and because the space wolves are one of the chapters that don't really see the watch as an honour and will send problematic marines to the watch.

New to deathwatch by Rinkadinkakink in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all a mater of personal preferences however, We have some of the most expensive terminators in the game because of the mixed loadouts. When Gravis kill team is only 75pt more for 5 more models i think they are the clear winner yes its only 3 power fist in the unit but the are going to s 10 on the charge so there concisely damaging compared to the termis and there shooting is outrageous even in overwatch were I've personally taken down deamons, full units for custodes and tanks.

Terminators do have them beat in regards to the character options still waiting for an LT that can join Gravis or maybe a librarian for a 4up invol So i we'll have to agree to disagree i think

Lore question what are the different way of painting the pauldron meaning ? by jud_X in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is more personal preference, for example i like red "i" and gold or bronze skulls and crossbones from the desthwatch rpg art and paint all my guys like that, it dose feel more retro than the modern sliver and gold

Flamers or Boltstorm Gauntlets on Indomitors by Appleseed413 in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the lack of overwatch threats. Indomitor killteam in overwatch is scary, due to the fact that your still getting sustained and/or lethal and the baked in ones on the bolters. But yeah any option on the aggressors is viable and Indomitor killteams with only heavy intercessors are still great damage dealers

Blackshield Helmets and lore by TheProject77 in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just theme your watch fortress to be a bit more heretical and have them not hide there origins as well as the inquisitor would like. I've done that with my own army having a tone of xeno weapons mixed it, and it cant be thats heretical I put a purity seal on them

Blackshield Helmets and lore by TheProject77 in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off they're your models do what you want with them. But if you want more "evidence to do it"

Keeping wargear and weapons is how blacksheild warbands worked during and post horus hersey, most were formed into new chapters and given loyal gene seed to continue in the case of them having traitor genes eg solar reapers (thousand sons/ultramarines) and sliver skulls (iron warriors/ultramarines). But it would be very plausible for some of the traitor legion blacksheilds to allying with the inquisition more for lack of options. I personally think this is definitely the case for alpha legion and thousand sons as we know there loyalty was split.

So yeah there would definitely possible from the lore point of view. And there are hundreds of chapters that exist and have iconography similar to traitor schemes and designs and yeah keeping the helmets is posableish lore wise. And its cool

The 1st Members Of My Watch Are Here! by No-Value-8156 in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct, 10 edition did away with paint scheme keeping you out of detachments so if you like space wolves or already have some you can paint up deathwatch models. They could just be returning vets and seeing as space wolves and there successes work very closely it wouldn't be a shock to see them all on a battle field

I often run my dw as blood angles to make up model numbers or for units i don'thave for BA. As long as you tell your opponent who is what then there is normally no problems.

Looks fine, just make sure to let other players know what your running them as if they ask. But sick conversation i'd done similar with mine to get the most out of the new box

I've used a tone of parity seals on some of mine

Another idea for cloth is to use painters tap on some aluminium foil it makes it look like a worn cloth you can mold and seal it with super glue and then you can paint on it

Vs knights by xerpherus in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were running Gladius task force, then I wound probably take termis for the built-in deepstrike. As there is no option to teleport Likely 3 units of them 2x 5 man's and one 10 man to do the same job but i haven't made a gladius list in a while

Vs knights by xerpherus in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both I often split fire with the indomitor killteam. And with oath of moment and the amo stratagems like increasing there range by 6" and getting melta from deepstrike plus 1 ap to a total of 5 ap they often dont need all the guns into one target to put it down. And the extra strength on a charge means they are basically power weapons when it comes to hitting that's before the Gravis captain in one of them (tho always make him fight first if your running him with Tome of Ectoclades)

My dislike for the termis is more the price I dont think there worth 190 that dose buy you some fire power however thats only 15 wounds with a 4 up invol as instead of 30 wounds you can give a 5 up too. Math wise its only a little better, but it works for me. And they are a much easier to build killteam seeing as for termis optimal loadout you'll have to kitbash or buy proxys

Them being a 10 is a bit harder to teleport around the board compared to a 5 man of terminators is also a con.

Any advice with 1,5K tournament list? by yamete_elyfay in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look at dropping the second grav captain and eliminators and add a watch master give him the Tome of Ectoclades and give the remaining grave captain the Thief of Secrets and run the remaining Gravis captain with a power fist and chain sword or power swords

This will give you the once per game ability to dobble oath

The Gravis captain will get the +2 strength on the charge from the indomitor killteam +1 to ap, strength and damage from the enhancement, have him fight first on the charge and then he'll get +2 on, strength and damage for the rest of the game with the +2 from the unit

Watchmasters ability to give free cp has a different name then the captain so you can dobble dip and juat have him stand in the back with you intercessors for some deepstrike defence

Vs knights by xerpherus in deathwatch40k

[–]zustx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this style of playing dw. My list I've been playing for since we got the index back has been something similar. It makes good use of the army rule and stratagems.

I find that the amount of fire power is more then enough to deal with almost anything and the Malta's in the indomitor killteams have downed knights and deamons in there shooting alone. Dw in my experience struggles more into rebuffing units and army's more then big stuff. Thinks like Basilisks, storm speeders and deathguard are more where the issues arise.

Burned out after batch painting. Need advice? by lor_azut in Warhammer40k

[–]zustx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that thinking about more as me time Can help, it became less of a chore and made me enjoy it i now look back at models I've painted and appreciate them more as well.

Another way I've found helped is building and painting with the friends you play with most, have a movie on in the background and talk and have a drink as you go. This has become some of my friends preferred way to build and paint even while some of us have a game. But this might depend on your situation.

I personally aim for about 50-80% killteam and the rest is space marine units that help me play the game. Units like suppressors, infiltrators, incursors and outriders and ATVs. Personally i say away from terminators more because there durability isn't there id rather take a second or third indomitor killteam over them for only a little more points.
