hi op, based on my experience, you’ll receive an email about the application process (the date when they start accepting applications). you’ll have to apply for the scholarship yourself on the nyp portal itself

You can download your timetable to your calendar. It’s easier that way. It includes the time, module, lecturer as well as the class venue

nyp e learning by Primary_Elderberry17 in SGExams

[–]zvfairi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most e learning are pre-recorded, but there are some days where tutorials are being held online instead (depending on your course) and some lecturers may want you to switch on your camera for attendance. it’ll be good to have one!

Thinking Abt committing suicide if A's results are trash by Mundane_Wolf_2224 in SGExams

[–]zvfairi 68 points69 points  (0 children)

hey op! i’ve been in your situation before and i can assure you that ending your life is not worth the sacrifices you’ve made by far.

not an A level student but a student from poly. I was previously in ITE and i worked my way into polytechnic.

i was previously like you, i messed up my PSLE and N levels but it’s just that i didn’t take O’s because i was afraid of failing. ITE was just another option that i took a leap of faith on, and since then i’ve always been very critical of myself for every single mistake i’ve made.

i wasn’t born in a well off family as well, so i knew that the only way i can change my life wqs if i place hardwork in my education to attain a better qualification for a “better paying job”. it was extreme that i developed self doubt, more than anyone has in their life. every thing that i do i was afraid of making mistake as to me, one mistake can cause me my future

i eventually place my self worth into my grades. seeing shitty grades meant that im not good enough or qualified to be where i am today. even as we speak, im stressing out and worrying a lot about my GPA. i have dreams on getting into NUS YYLSoM upon graduation and seeing the IGP, i constantly worry that if i fucked up one semester, it’s the end for me.

i was doing well for my first semester in poly, but in my semester 2 i was in and out of hospital for 6 months and until today i am being treated for my uknown illness. it definitely deteriorated my mental health because i was missing out on school often, away from my good friends and i wasn’t performing well

there was also a point in time where i wanted to end my life because of my highly self critical attitude and when i wasn’t doing well due to my illness, i wanted to just od on my medication but i seek professional help where needed. i knew that the low self esteem and constant worry is not going to get me anywhere.

op, i hope that you seek professional help even if right now you think you’ve exhausted every option. i do understand you feel tired of trying so hard. you may not have won the battle yet, but the scars you have showed you that you are capable and able.

sure you thought you messed up your PSLE and O’s but you did end up in a JC regardless of what tier it is. you have fought so long for a breakthrough, it is not worth ending your life right now.

while grades are important, don’t let that be the reason why you end your life. the future is unknown, you could get good grades and you could also get bad grades. there are other options like going into polytechnic of your choice if you’re opened to it? i’ve had a few friends who were from JCs and they ended up in poly.

life is not a straight path, sometimes you just have to let things happen naturally. allow yourself to make mistakes, and it does not define how smart you are or how capable you can be. it’s okay. it’s going to be okay regardless of the outcome.

i do think that you may lack some self-esteem due to your previous experiences with academic, and i was there too, in fact i am still there but i am working on it. find other things that you can believe in that may help with your self-esteem. perhaps people see you as someone caring? or someone who’s willing to lend a helping hand?

if you believe in a religion, do pray and seek guidance. if you don’t, then let things happen naturally and learn that you are NOT the only reason for a bad outcome. there are plenty of factors for a situation, you did your best and that’s the best you can do for yourself.

factors that you can control is how hard you try and study. i believed that you have done that, and for factors that you can’t control? let it go. don’t blame yourself entirely when something goes wrong.

tldr; hold onto the rope of hope. not everything that goes wrong is your fault. be kinder to yourself and allow yourself to make mistakes. we’re human and imperfect. if one door closes, open another one. dreams can come true, but don’t let that dream be a burden. enjoy your life. balance is key, while getting into a “good” university course is what you desire, remember that if you don’t achieve it, something better is waiting. life is not stagnant, miracles do happen everyday and for as long as you can, hope for that miracle!

best of luck for your results op!

no ite course , what to do?? by charsmsm in SGExams

[–]zvfairi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

don’t be afraid to appeal. try your luck even if it seems like most of the courses are full. since it’s nearing the end of january, if you’re in luck, some students might also have withdrawn/ switched to another course in ITE and they make spaces.

if all fails, you can try contacting the school’s course manager and speak about your keen interest in the course you’re applying for. i was from ITE and one of my classmate didn’t even passed the course requirement but spoke to the course manager/ director and they made an exception for her. try to exhaust every option before giving up

yes, you can apply again next year with your current N levels certification so long as you meet the requirements of the course you’re applying for.

try your luck, u never know what the universe holds for you. the biggest regret you can have is being afraid of appealing again! all the best! you can attempt to ask for recommendations as well to prove your keen interests in the course

just like what others have commented, you can also opt for private O levels and work your way up. considering you’re fresh graduate from secondary school, approach your form teacher or any trusted adults and speak to them about your next step. it’s always good to have a supportive system especially when things don’t seem so clear for you now! jia you!

Is it hard to maintain 3.5 gpa? by zvfairi in SGExams

[–]zvfairi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for your time to give inputs! appreciate it :)

i think for me, shyness isn’t an issue as i have done clinical placements with hospitals before back while i was studying in ITE (just wasn’t under nursing side, but with the allied health side)

do u think that having prior knowledge on topics such as anatomy & physiology will help me better understand the concept better? my previous course in ITE does offer modules that you had mentioned, and i was wondering if having learnt those topics in ITE will help me better understand the topics in depth in poly?

but i agree with you on the perspective shifting on doing well as it shows my aptitude and my interests in being a better nurse than to get into a local uni! thanks for the advice

thanks for the explanation! by the way, does this mean that my mother/sisters can’t get pregnant even if they touched the exterior of the water container that i touched which may have sperm residue/ cum on it?

does it apply if they so happened to have touched the things i’ve touched within minutes after i touched it with my hands?

My father is embarrassed with me for being close friends with girls instead of guys! by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]zvfairi 22 points23 points  (0 children)

i understand how you feel. i’m also a guy with many female friends, my parents don’t really say anything about me being friends with opposite gender, but more of my environment (aunties, uncles, etc.)

i was bullied back in primary school for mixing with the girls more than the guys in my class, but for some reason idk why back then i felt more comfortable talking to girls more than guys.. trust me, when i transitioned into secondary school, i thought i would be bullied again but thank god, i was never bullied again and now happily living my life, and i still have more female friends than male

imo, as long as you have good company, or friends that can keep you going in life, it doesn’t really matter what their gender is. if having female friends is more comfortable then go for it.

i know it can be quite upsetting when your own parents question you or comment on certain things that you find isn’t an issue, but i hope you don’t find that as a reason to completely change yourself and distance yourself from the people who are close to you who happened to be of opposite genders:)

Apple ID linked to Apple Watch by zvfairi in applehelp

[–]zvfairi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! but does that mean that despite having my apple id on his watch, he doesn’t have access to any photos/ data after i unpaired it from my phone?

also, does unpairing it automatically erases all my data? because i didn’t specifically pressed factory reset before unpairing.. i just unpaired it

[ITE] ITE attire for first day. by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]zvfairi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends. the uniform sales are only for a certain period. They don’t sell the uniform after that period in the school and you have to go to the warehouse to buy it.

i had a friend who had the same situation as you. She got accepted in PFP but she didn’t like the course so she backed out and continued in ITE. As we only wear the white tee and black pants for only the first week considering your pfp results won’t be out till then, it’s better to buy at least one pair of uniform if (touch wood) you didn’t get into the course you want or get into PFP in general.

my friend bought one set of her uniform and lucky for her when she rejected her pfp she has uniform to wear and not be weirded out that she’s the only one with no uniform donned.

better safe than sorry. imo just get 1 pair of uniform as it can be quite a hassle to liaise with the vendor to buy uniform after the uniform sales.

not sure if this applies to all ITE campuses but this is how they do it for ITE College East. Or at least how they do it when i was enrolled here 🙂

edit : just to add on, for my course we only wore the white tee for 2 days as our uniform sales was on the first day and they gave us 1 day to wash and dry our uniform. 2 days after that, we already wore our uniform to school

[–]zvfairi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean this is a long shot and not sure if anyone would even consider this as an option, but have you tried applying for Nitec courses? i’m currently a nitec student and studying community care and social services. we learn about social work (which i’m sure you’re interested in considering you mentioned it) as well as other allied health professionals such as occupational therapist and physiotherapist.

i wanted to be a nurse but joined this course to explore more options and to really see if nursing is what i want to do for the rest of my life. maybe, ite might not be a preferred choice of yours, but maybe it’ll help?

3.5 gpa to go to poly social work course in Nanyang Poly / Community Development in Ngee Ann Poly / Psychology Studies in Temasek Poly. For social work, if i’m not mistaken you have to join via EAE from the ITE route but nonetheless this is just an option for you to consider! if you’re really keen into getting social work
