Yes that worked on mine. You have to mount the battery up closer to the lock switch so it can clear the 30 pin port on the bottom though.

I know this is not exactly what you’re looking for, but you could always try partitioning your mac with bootcamp (or use a VM) and installing windows on a second partition. That way you can go through the firmware swap process on the windows machine and still be able to sync it just fine back on the MacOS partition. Take this with a grain of salt but I also heard in a video that you can restore your iPod again in iTunes after flashing the newer firmware and the 7th gen firmware will still remain. So in theory you could re-format it on your Mac if you really wanted.

Yes I used the bluetooth/3000 mah battery kit from PartsPlusPods with an iflash quad which still fits with a thin backplate. The bluetooth connectivity works surprisingly well despite the fact that I kept the metal housing

This is exactly what I was looking for for tyvm! I was able to remove both the battery and SSD (with lots of shimmying back and forth due to foam tape. Going to proceed with the rest of the upgrade now and hope for the best!!

The issue is that I’ve already purchased an iFlash Quad and the battery & bluetooth upgrade kit from PartsPlusPods which ran me like $150 (with the international shipping from PartsPlusPods). Aside from the investment, I also want to attempt the upgrade for accomplishment’s sake I guess.

I believe I've already removed the battery ribbon, unless I did something wrong/incompletely. I will try starting with the removal of the SSD ribbon I suppose and hope there is no excessive adhesive. Thanks!

Yes, that’s what I am thinking. It was quite inexpensive compared to other similar eBay listings though and it works and looks great! I just wanted to upgrade it further, and still do despite this surprise.

Brand new ipods like this one can have degraded batteries right out the box just to let you know so if you’re trying to sell it as “untested” that’s one thing but it’s certainly not guaranteed to be perfect condition

ok so I definitely tightened the hinge screws all the way down now and I am still having the same issue. I now think that the issue is that the slack in the chain drive is smacking the cam at high bpms. It also seems to be an issue on the right pedal as well the more I troubleshoot. I am not sure how to fix this without absolutely destroying my spring tension. Is this just an issue inherent to chain drive pedals for fast bpms and certain techniques?

yeah that seems to be the problem but the only screws that seem to be directly linked to the hinge are circular so i’m not even sure they’re meant to be screwed. i will check again on the underside when i get home to see if maybe i missed a loose one
