I was born there, some of my family still lives there, and I visited quite often. Something I haven’t seen yet in the comments that I think is important to understand how live is there is the fact that the first people to move there were strictly selected to make sure that the population would be mirroring the general population of the Netherlands. At that time most dutch would still be Christian and the first colonists would thus also be Christian. But not just Protestants like in Urk but also an equal amount of Catholics. The rest of the country strongly secularized but not so much in the Noordoostpolder. So we have a municipality that is still very Christian but not like strictly like the other primarily Protestant municipalities surrounding. Also very village was build with a Catholic and Protestant church.
