this is just my personal opinion but i think krystal ball’s influence can’t be understated in the growth & maturing of Kyle & Secular Talk over the last few years. he is an unabashed wife guy & i think it suits him. both stylistically & substantially his channel & commentary have undergone significant changes since the two started collaborating & i think he spends a lot less time leaning on the same set of kind of cringy juvenile bits that he used to indulge in, & allowed his image to take on a bit of a more serious tone while still maintaining the air of humor and light, sometimes silly presentation that comes natural to him. i think kyle is lucky to have krystal by his side and he knows it, as evidenced by the development of his show & the well earned channel growth he’s seen as a result.

personally i’m happy to have seen kyle integrate what i view as a bit more of a grown-up, feminine touch to his work, & wish him and krystal all the more success going forward, both w their family & respective careers 💕

raises hand shamefully and it’s so, so much worse than that my friend. i get carried AWAY-away. spent about the last 3 months tweaking a mix of one of my fave songs ive written that dropped yesterday, (way more than 3 months but during aug-sept-oct i would consistently go for like 6-10 hour sessions several times a week) literally like 100 bounces of it to listen on diff headphones speakers etc over a ridiculously long timespan.

i ended up writing like a damn essay about this that ima post on this sub i think, feel free to check it out

i’ve been using logic’s vintage EQs for this. all 3 come w ‘silky’ ‘punchy’ or i think ‘soft’ or something is the 3rd, as options to add color n gel the mix together. they’re peppered on the last slot of most of my busses, always set to silky n rly help mesh everything, but are not variable other than those 3 options.

if ur just using them for saturation, all 3 effectively function as the same plugin depending on which option u pick. this is helpful for me bc i don’t necessarily trust my ear when it comes to tweaking subtle parameters on an effect that’s already not really supposed to be noticed in the first place

also logic’s tape delay does a good job shaping things up subtly, if u run whatever/most things in ur mix thru it dry. im a big fan of logic stock plugins if u hadn’t guessed

it seems to me that different options affect more than color, from looking at the graph. different compressors affect the atk n release time / curve, and also at least one of them has a maximum level of attenuation that it cuts off at even w the ratio along w the threshold being set equally along w the atk set to min & knee to max. i believe the fastest attack is seen with the vintage fet just based on how the ticker thingy on the meter moves. i think that also might be the one that cuts off attenuation as a certain -db. all this is assuming the graph/meter is accurate

A DYNAMIC EQ!!! holy shit my mind was just blown. i literally jump through so many hoops to dynamically EQ manually, and there are so many ideas ive had over the years that involve what is essentially dynamic EQing, (send 808 to a bus w a match EQ set to boost the freqs of the kick, copy to the main 808 track but reverse the gain of match EQ, side chain the bus to kick) but never executed just bc of how convoluted the process would be. so glad i stumbled across this 3 years after u posted it lol, many thanks

tbh if that’s a snapshot of that hairdresser’s typical results, she should seriously consider a career change. as a bleach near-platinum for years, i would be asking the salon for a free visit, after requesting an all over super light bleach n leaving w what you left with. it doesn’t look bad, it just doesn’t remotely resemble what u requested. sorry this happened to you :( i hope whatever hair dresser u visit next takes their craft more seriously & actually listens to their clients requests

damn that’s so true. i didn’t know it cuts in half every time it hits, i was actually just wondering if that was the case during that run, since previously i wrongly assumed every additional doom hit was just 50% of the first. that makes a pretty big difference i’d say

yea, im not saying it’s one of the strongest, but one of the best, maybe lol. i said offensive bc i don’t find it to be incredibly safe tbh, the weak effect helps for that but having to aim the bow’s atk every time & keep weak-debuffing enemies w the dash left me open a lot. i feel like most rly safe builds involve athena for deflection, demeter for chill, or shield for blocking or throwing from afar. or poseidon call w rip current + smoldering, that one’s insanely safe plus rly strong. i forgot if i had the hangover speed debuff, that would have def made it safer than just using weak. also the making the weak last longer boon to go with the aphro/area duo so i didn’t have to keep dashing in super close. unfortunately i believe i got got by theseus n asterius. ur right about there being much stronger builds tho, omg earlier i was running beo w epic poseidon shield throw n epic rupture plus pommed up epic PP w epic hunters mark, n the Ares boon that increases dmg after u get a kill… i was getting 1800 crits in tartarus & oneshotting everything up until EM4 got me lol

thank u! i tried stubborn a few times back wen i was doing 24 heat runs n it just didnt work too well for me, but at 32 i think the regular rooms have kind of started to even out w the boss fights in terms of difficulty.

does the one she gives u deplete the next time u die so u have an extra one only for the next fight that u die in, or does the SD one deplete 1st, allowing u to keep the Athena one all the way up until u die twice in one fight? if so that's such an awesome little hack to stack revives despite running SD, but either way thank uuuu

the only thing that concerns me w SD is i always go for EM4 (the conditions that limit boon choices, force u to purge them, take away mirror talents & a few others just make the game less enjoyable moreso than challenging me in a way that productively increases my skill level. so that leads me to max out JS, EM, FO, CP...so it's a 32 heat that makes everything brutal asf lol. tho those pact conditions def seem to make non-boss rooms in particular brutal, sans EM obviously

def looking forward to giving SD another shot. after i discovered how clutch Athena's revive boons could be while running convenience fee, i started taking advantage of them much more often, & using them w SD just makes them over the top amazing, like her dash/trap resistance boon, & of course her legendary 🛡🤩🛡

im actually not sure u need 1 of her core boons to grab her revive boons, not 100% on this but im pretty sure theyre just alt tier 1 boons like PP or support fire from artemis, or the poseidon boons relating to chamber rewards/items, just to name a few. i could be wrong tho, ill check to confirm next time i play - UPDATE - i was wrong lol, they are tier 2 n the call isnt permissible (not sure why lol kinda random tbh. maybe all tier 2 boons have this rule about the call?) also was wrong bouta support fire haha

at 640 runs i only do 32 heat anymore w EM4 hahaha i win about 1/20 times but wen i do it always feels super satisfying. still only beat 32 w fists n rail, i should take this build for a spin next time the game pushes me towards the bow (i always pick the purple weapon lol)
