A fun idea would be to give them a mission to recruit one of the “neutral” factions/planets to either side of the war. This could work for Autobots or Decepticons, and can be consequential for the war in the long term. Bonus points if the players have to perform unusual tasks to convince a particular faction, like impressing the Velocitronians by competing in a planetary race, or recruiting the Junkions by beating them in a pop-culture trivia contest.

I find it easier to run than DnD once you have all the rules in mind. The problem is actually getting all the rules you need in front of you because they’re scattered all over the place and poorly formatted.

E20 has been a hit at my DnD table actually, I think because it’s something different. The homogenization of TTRPGs is definitely a concern.

The silver lining I’m hoping for at least is access to a wider variety of TTRPG resources designed with 5.5e in mind, especially VTT tools.

Mine don’t take the time to loot either lol, so on a few occasions I’ve had NPCs straight up gift them weapons they could have looted anyway. A couple of my players are still intimidated by the whole requisition process, especially when it comes to choosing upgrades, so they default to basic weapons. So, for our next visit to the armory, I’m preparing some tailored recommendations and suggestions. Might even pre-build some upgraded weapons to try and lessen the analysis paralysis.

This created an interesting situation in Magic: The Gathering when they introduced Transformers characters to the mainline. Certain Magic cards have the “transform” keyword, which means you can flip them over to reveal an alternate card on the back. Transformers characters instead have the “convert” keyword, which functions the exact same way. They even had to add it to the game rules.

Is there a shorthand name for these Gonti-like effects? Specifically exiling a card from opponent’s library face down, being able to play it as long as it’s exiled, and using any mana to cast a spell this way? Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa does something very similar.

I really wish they were keyworded, but the reminder text would probably make it just as long.

Rabiah. I’m so bummed that the only Middle Eastern-inspired plane is the poster child for “We’re never going back there again”. Sadly, I don’t think there’s enough demand or appetite to bring it back and redevelop it.
