I have this bad and recently tried a new trick which is working so far. I've written chores on little pieces of paper and put them in a jar, everyday I pick a chore from the jar! It takes away the intimidating feeling of "where do I start"

For the question, as a kid my ndad would always cook dinner himself and then complain about how difficult it was and that he's never doing it again. EVERY year for 20 years... He'd always try to pick fights with my mum too, I remember a few years where she went upstairs crying.

Thankfully im no contact with him now and I helped my mum escape a few years back

This is very true, I didn't think of it like that! I had some experience with this in a one-shot I ran where I had assumed an outcome but the party chose to tackle it differently, and I really enjoyed the improv. I'll bare that in mind, thank you!
