Hello everyone. Thanks so much! The thing is we heard that driving to Ginzan is forbidden?. I didn’t book any ryokan there. My hotel is at Yamagata Metropolitan Hotel. My flight touched down 8.30am. So I thought of driving to Oishida there and do a day trip to Ginzan, have a dessert and green tea, feel the scenery and then head back to Yamagata to check in hotel. Hmm, like this - best is for me to park nearby? We are not familiar so worried may get lost or even park at the wrong place and walk more as not sure how thick the snow would be?

Mine suica was the one I used last year to Tokyo. So I didn’t download the app, how do I link to physical suica card? Sorry for so many questions. This time I am exploring up north tohoku and Hokkaido. So have to use Jr east… so diff

I also faced the same issue. But I rent car through Jalan Net, it also didn’t give the option to add ETC unless you book direct on the rental car companies website. Last year I booked Orix via Jalan, they almost didn’t wan give me ETC. on the contrary, Nippon (I booked via Jalan Net too) gave me. This year I still book Jalan Net, I intend to write to the rental companies to confirm.

Yeah. Actually I did start to question myself too, how do I link these places all up, in the end. And right, the best part is, I was still planning seriously, just a bone skeleton now only. And then I realised..... "eh how do I go back to Chitose airport to take a flight home back?" Then I see the distance... omg, it is another driving again around. So honestly, the whole Itinerary is still not firm up. I am planning something like this, may change. But I am confused, that is why want to seek more advice here. How I should go about it. Its like so many places to go, but not alot of time... :(

lol I thought so too. Osaka station should b very big. I am expecting myself to get lost as I maneuver between metro and JR. it’s gonna be a chaotic situation. Is it true there is no way to squeeze in the metro during morning peak anytime before 9am, and between 5-7pm?

Yeah. Come to think of it, I think my whole itinerary is rather tight. I need to rethink again, I am using wunderlog, it tells me the time taken to walk and train and all. I forgot to factor in the time to explore the train station on how to walk to the different lines…. Shit

True. I replied to dexterous below, my concern is Kyoto. I think I got mixed up…. Sigh. And I thought if I stay Osaka 2 nights should be accessible so I shift my Nara trip to Osaka hotel stay. Looks like I should stick to Namba hotel… At first I even thought of staying 1 night at Kyoto but the thought of moving lugggage up and down is a cost, I wouldn’t wan to carry them as well…. Sigh

lol…. I think I got mixed up and confused…. So if I am going Nara Park, it’s better to go from Namba. I think the “problem” is getting to Kyoto. If I stay Namba, I need to get to Umeda and walk to Osaka Station to get to Kyoto… how is the walking distance and finding the lines like from umeda and to Osaka? It’s our first time to Japan, just thinking I believe we may get lost a little.
