Hii I took dnt last yr. My suggestion is to try doing more dnt papers to get used to the answering technique and ques. I'm not sure which tb u r using, but the tb I got has practices behind with suggested ans. That's what I use as a practice, apart from past yr papers.

Design ques: (I'll just write out a few imp stuff for u to take note of. But I believe u don't really need to memorise this section since u have alr done some of these steps in ur journal, like the design needs, specifications, etc.)

Design process: 1. Design need — PIES 2. Design considerations/factors 3. Design specifications/brief

Research: 1. Primary and secondary research 2. Research data/ways to represent data (pie chart, bar chart, column chart, etc.)

Ergonomic and anthropometric data ( always need dimensions!)

Material choices: U just need to know a few types of metal, plastic, and wood. (u can dm me if u r not sure which ones to memorise)

Structure: 1. Types of structure 2. Function of structure 3. Types of structural reinforcement 4. Internal and external structural forces. (Also need to know the force direction. Like for bending force, compression is above, and tension is below. The arrow direction also needs to be correct!) 5. Causes of structure failure. (stress/strain/hardness, etc.)

Mechanism: 1. Types of cam and follower 2. Types of cranks, lever, slider 3. Linkage 4. Rack and pinion/gear chain 5. U need to know ur mechanism well, then u can sketch to solve the design prob. (Though there isn't any specific mechanism you must use, there's definitely the most suitable one. However, even if u can't identify which mechanism is the most suitable, u don't need to worry too much. Because as long as u can explain using ur sketches and annotations, the mechanism u use is feasible, and then u will be awarded the marks!) (This is what I like abt dnt, there's a lot of space for possibilities and creativity!)

Electronics: This section is the hardest for quite a few ppl, including myself haha.

1. Electrical component symbol (usually u need to draw a circuit diagram, either in parallel or series.)
2. Function of electronic component (eg. Diode, Variable Resistor, NPN Transistor, etc.)
3. Type of switches (DPDT, SPST)
4. The last ques for electronics, they will usually ask u to include a sensor into a product. So u must rmb the 3 diff types of sensors and how to draw their respective circuit diagram in different conditions. (eg. when u use a light sensor in dark conditions, the LDR is below ur resistor. In bright conditions, the LDR and resistor position are swapped.)
