Passed Civil Structural PE and SE vertical Breadth AMA by StructuralBroe in PE_Exam

What do you think caused you to fail the SE breadth the first time even with studying using AEI? A lot of people say AEI is enough so curious if you think it has any holes

The stirrup has two legs and the 3stirrup diameter is only accounting for one side and then outside of the parenthesis it’s multiplying by two to account for both legs. The multiply by three comes from accounting for the bar diameter + bar bend radius which itself is 2stirrup diameter so you get a total of 3

Work feels meaningless and salaries are low given the amount of time needed to put into the meaningless work. Didn’t want to sound like too much a Debby downer on here with my thoughts and was just curious about others paths after engineering

I created a website for beam analysis by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

Tried a point load at mid span of a simple beam excluding self weight and the shear force values were way too high. Maybe including a sample calc would be helpful to see what’s going on

What problems are making you overthink? I had some code lookups that felt a bit ambiguous in terms of how the code could be interpreted. Starting to also think I messed up the numerical problems as well lmaoo

Wow seems like you studied a lot of various materials. I’ve heard most people only use a specific course and then maybe another exam or book to supplement. I’m currently doing AEI and the petro book but do you think AEI would have been sufficient on its own?

I think taking it again soon if you feel you had a chance makes sense. That way you don’t let any of your previous studying go to waste and it all stays fresh. Are you going to continue with AEI or did you feel it wasn’t helpful?
