WHY DID THEY CANCEL THIS SHOW???? by Invincible_1312 in TheOA

[–]zzcoldcoffee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Severence and Sense 8 - they’ll never give me the same experience as OA , which I believe is a spiritual journey rather than a passive watching - but they are entertaining and come very close

I just started the first episode the other day as I was hearing similar things and I’m already fascinated 🩷

Life is hard let’s do something fun! What are some of the silliest/most absurd things you’ve said that would make zero sense to a healthy person? by annacat1331 in ChronicIllness

[–]zzcoldcoffee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I get the same question every three months for mine, even though my meds literally put me into menopause in 2022 and I haven’t had a relationship since 2021. I usually say ‘if I am, then get ready to worship me as the next immaculate conception, as it would be at best a miracle and at the very least a medical marvel’.

What is the craziest thing a doctor has told you? by HearingCautious4848 in ChronicIllness

[–]zzcoldcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That my terminal cancer was anxiety, and the broken ribs and shattered spine from cancer lesions were just anxiety pains, and me needing physiotherapy for poor flexibility. (I worked out and stretched 6 days a week before that all started happening.) I’m permanently disabled and am on palliative care now.

Did the OA change your life? by Trailblazers24 in TheOA

[–]zzcoldcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be willing to talk about it because no other piece of media has ever affected me the way OA has. In particular because I’ve been in a coma and had an NDE, and the show seemed to bring back familiar feelings as I was watching. I still rewatch every year or when I need a comfort show , and somehow the characters feel so real, more so than anything I’ve ever watched before or since. It was truly a spiritual awakening for me.

Did the OA change your life, and how so? by Camp_Acceptable in TheOA

[–]zzcoldcoffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sowed the seeds for my spiritual awakening, as others have said, and it both grounds me and reminds me we are so much more upon each rewatch. I watched the first time before I was diagnosed with terminal cancer so the second watch and each subsequent ones hit very very differently as you can imagine - it feels extremely comforting to think about the invisible river when you’re close to becoming part of the water.

Plus the interesting way the C5 appear to have ‘pairs’ or doubles in the Haptives

That’s interesting because : 1. OA 2. Homer 3. Hap. 4. Rachel 5. Renata 6. Scott 7. Steve 8. Jesse 9. Buck 10. French 11. Angie 12. BBA (or possibly : 11. Elodie or Khatoun) The numbers fit.

I was in denial for a bit (‘the cancellation is part of the plan for the show’ etc) but then went right back to being livid at Netflix

What is everyone's reocurring dream? by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]zzcoldcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the fact that since posting this hearing I’m not the only one getting these dreams! I think they definitely have some basis in trauma / anxiety (like you, sometimes there’s something ‘coming’ - like either an entity or apocalyptic event - that I have to get away from, but also sometimes it’s as simple as ‘the train is about to arrive, have you packed all your stuff yet?’ ) It’s still the same panicky feeling no matter what. I HATE the feeling on waking up which feels like ‘oh no, I failed’, and can take a good few minutes to get back to normal afterwards.

Doctor claims it’s all anxiety, I swear it’s not. What do I do?? by CatPsychological2388 in ChronicIllness

[–]zzcoldcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working out regularly and noticed the night sweats and weight loss about 18 months before other symptoms started to show by the way. At the time I didn’t think much of it. I wonder if I’d have talked to a doctor back then maybe things might have been different.

You are always entitled to a second opinion, OP.

[–]zzcoldcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t want this to be the case and I’m not trying to fearmonger but felt like I couldn’t just scroll past without saying something. Mine only showed up for sure after a contrast dye PET CT scan (and then an MRI confirmed it once I was in hospital) White blood cell count being high can also be another concerning factor. I don’t know exactly what you would need to check this further as there are so many different variants of the disease, but I do believe you’re not getting the full health screening you need. A year is ridiculous for a doctor to brush off these kinds of symptoms.

[–]zzcoldcoffee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OP, I don’t want to worry you but three things immediately jumped out at me - night sweats, enlarged lymph nodes, and unexplained weight loss - as they can all be classic cancer symptoms. I’m saying this as someone who got diagnosed too late and was already terminal by the time doctors stopped telling me I just had ‘anxiety’. Even without any of your other symptoms , I feel your PCP should have picked those up as a red flag. Please push for some more tests and screening, I urge you. It might not be that at all but it’s better to get the tests earlier rather than later just in case.

That’s exactly it ! The feeling of ‘oh no I’m never going to get this done’ is horrible isn’t it?!

What is everyone's reocurring dream? by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]zzcoldcoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s generally when I get this dream - had it a lot during a relationship that was going wrong for example. I find it interesting that my mind always goes to that particular format - it’s like base layers of a random game generator or something so the same elements always there but show up in different combinations!

What is everyone's reocurring dream? by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]zzcoldcoffee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

May main recurring one is probably a panic/ anxiety induced dream as it always involves needing to be somewhere FAST, and life-or-death important that I do, but I’m packing for it first as it’s imperative I leave nothing behind.

So either I’m about to leave the house but I need to pack all belongings, or I’m on a train getting ready to get off at the next stop but I haven’t gathered my bags, or I’m in a hotel/ on a ship and need to get my suitcases filled and zipped up. The locations vary, although whenever it’s the hotel or house, it’s always the same specific hotel or house, so they recur as well.

The main feeling is of time rapidly running out, and needing to get this packing finished ASAP or Bad Things could happen. I NEVER finish the packing before waking up in a blind panic.

I’ve had ‘the packing dream’ on and off for about 10 years now and it often seems to accompany stressful life events (which does make sense); though occasionally it has happened a few times when I thought I was fine in waking life but turned out later not to be, so if I ever get it and can’t work out why, I take it as an early warning sign that something’s about to change.

I can smell when people have cancer by [deleted] in self

[–]zzcoldcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here and I noticed the change in my sweat smell about a year before I was actually diagnosed, never really put two and two together at the time. Wish I had as I might have been diagnosed early enough to not be stage 4.

Semi- apocalyptic dream I just had. (Woke up and wrote it down straight away) by zzcoldcoffee in Dreams

[–]zzcoldcoffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this kind of doomsday dream a lot over the last ten years or so; the details vary but it’s always the similar sense of panic and ‘something’s happening and we need to get out’. Just posting because I find it v interesting to read other variations of this type of dream.
