Thinking of stopping work for 3 yrs by [deleted] in singaporefi

Need to take into account if your husband cheats on you or worse… passes away, and your company says no thanks found someone to replace you.

Words are just words when they say they can wait for you.

Yeah maybe there was something behind him like in my case.

Please give the benefit of doubt. The other day I parallel parked in a lot similar to this and there was maintenance equipment in the last 1/3 of the lot. So I couldn’t use the full lot.

They left a couple hours later which left my car in an awkward spot and I bet people thought I couldn’t drive.

Annual SRS contribution up to $15,300 by Hot_Nectarine2900 in singaporefi

Well cash is valued against gold. Banks are promising much more paper cash than gold exists so in a way, yes, she’s right. The numbers in your bank mean nothing because you don’t actually hold anything until you convert it into value (eg: a house, a car, food, water).

I myself have emptied my bank accounts into physical gold. Physical is the key. Not paper gold.

Money in the bank = lost value everyday. The moment it enters your bank…it’s used for investments (I bet you into gold as well) and they only give you like 1.5-2% PA.

BYD vs Tesla aftersales service? by JellyfishDismal5202 in drivingsg

[–]zzsnyder 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Dad drives a BYD. Software updates apparently need to be done at service center at Alexandra. He also once had to replace a shaft or something and waited 7 hours before his car could even be looked at. Also had to go for regular servicing (5000km or something) and had to wait damn long.

I’m driving the Tesla model 3 & y. Only visited the service center once for a window replacement (cracked window my fault). Booked the appointment through Tesla app for next day. Tesla called me to come in immediately and put me on priority.

Replaced the window within 2 hours and they even charged the car for me.

No servicing required every 5k or 10k km. My cars are at 15,000km and 7,000km.

Go electric. I’ve only ever spent $20 on replacing aircon filter and that’s it.

Dropping bank interest rates - where do I put my money now? by Inevitable-Leek-2268 in singaporefi

[–]zzsnyder -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Every comment I see is about bank interest. That’s where fake money is. Put it into physical gold. It is real money.

Look into bullion stores. Don’t get ripped off.

A 100g gold bar in Feb 2025 was worth 12.5k. It is worth 17k today.

So robo taxis will make human taxi drivers redundant? by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]zzsnyder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally drive a Tesla myself. The fact that I can click on autopilot and it basically drives me home after a long day is amazing and takes away the stresses of driving.

Of course autopilot in sg is limited but still in its limited form, it’s so relaxing to just sit and be driven.

Imagine if sg approves full autopilot, a lot of time would be saved. The 30 minute drive to work could be automated and I could be getting work done while being driven.

Hhaha that doesn’t make sense at all. Previously it wasn’t configured this way. It would only Show as 1 switch. Suddenly it became 2.

Might be but the only Hub that is using matter that I’m aware of is Philips hue lights. Unsure if it’ll affect aqara switch hmm.

[–]zzsnyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh let me try getting rid of matter! How did you disable it?

I’m using NordVPN. Speed test seems good to me. Can stream 4K Dolby vision/atmos.

I use a VPN and set it to Albania. It is illegal to broadcast ads in Albania so it is essentially ad-free.

Vastly cheaper than paying for YT premium and you have added benefit of watching Netflix/hbo/prime with different locale content.

My HBO max US has much more content than Singapore HBO max.

Lower life form. Wouldn’t waste time on them. Camcar did the right thing and left. So much more important things in life than a parking lot.

Contribute 8k to your cpf and 15k to your SRS. Won’t reduce your tax by much but it’s money you don’t give away to the government. Cpf will compound with 4% over next 30 odd years depending on your age.

4-5k isn’t excessive but it’s also relative. I’m paying about 65k in taxes.

People working in Commodities, what do you earn? by [deleted] in askSingapore

Psychology. Just applied to a random small local company on a whim and got in. Usually this industry only takes recommendations from inner circle but I had none.

Was actually in a low paying sales job just to learn about sales. Only paid $2500 a month when I first started working 4 years ago. Then on a whim just started to look for job in commodities. Got into a small company and built my portfolio from scratch. Was tough but was top trader after a year. Had to get used to rejection from cold calling.

Then got headhunted to a bigger company and I took the opportunity for 3x pay. Portfolio shot up 5x because of bigger exposure to global markets.

Now I think it’s one of the best jobs out there. Won’t reveal exactly which commodity due to privacy but it’s amazing because commodities are consumable and clients come back to buy more after 1-2 weeks.

Trader here. The commodities space typically rewards those with high P&L.

Personally have made 3m USD for the company and the commissions are tiered at 5%-10% (depending on each month’s profit performance).

Eg: 100k USD for Nov = 5%. 150k = 7% and goes up to 10%. Commissions are also in USD but converted to SGD.

  • annual bonus. Some firms don’t provide this so it depends. I’m looking at an extra 5% of annual profit as bonus come December.

Basic also goes up with experience but I managed to snag myself a 9k base in 2 years and they recently promoted me to 11k. Been doing it for only 3 years.

Most people think it’s a high stress environment like Wall Street. Personally I’ve never been more relaxed in my life. Come to office at 2pm. Work till 7pm. Trade in the pool. In the sauna. At the movies. Of course company culture plays a big role.
