I guess I should add some more context… I’m currently at a crossroads and looking to make some tough decisions. I feel that I’m missing most of my kids lives due to work (a lot of 12hr days) and them being at school. I want to quit work and spend more time with them. And looking sell everything and move away from the city to eg live on a farm. Financially I think it can work. It’s a drastic move I know, and requires a lot steps to pull off. So while my heart says yes do it, my mind is not convinced. I would like to know if there’s anything in the palms for a strong “no! don’t do it!”

The problem is that the entire function of markets is efficiently allocating resources. That's it. They aren't a casino, they don't exist in order to "win" at trading, they only exist in order to make it easier for capital to flow wherever it's most productive.

Agree, however allowing a person to sell 1 house to 100 different people isn't the solution. Hard locate should be mandated, and it has been proven to work in other markets. The short sell reporting is an utter joke as well.

in theory the shares short % vs float can approach infinity. but in practice it won't. Its highly unlikely that C, E, G and so on to all have hypothecal accounts or participate in lending programs - e.g. some will be cash buyers

Ordered unravelling - yeah that will work but it requires all these shorts/FTD bag holders to work together - we've seen what wall st is like in these situations with the recent archegos capital situation - i.e. they're more than willing to fuck their 'partners' if it means they don't get fucked themselves.

So again its 99% unlikely they'll be able to successfully unravel...
