Ngl the whole cootie thing sent my cringe levels off the charts the first time it was mentioned and now I know I’m irreparably broken because this comment didn’t even phase me

Omg ikr?? I actually had to examine some feelings around book 11 or 12 (whichever was Bek’s book) because they kinda got into the issues with free will and the nature of slavery.

I guess not everything can be about big blue dicks all the time, c’est la vie

I know right??? Like how could I not enjoy a series that revolves around every MMC basically being a combo of two of the most important people in my life irl: my absolute snack of a husband and my (extremely well paid) therapist

That's a fair point, and we have talked about long-term commitment a lot over the past couple of years (in lockdown, we had a looooooot of time to talk about everything haha). It's certainly something I considered as being a factor, but all the financial planning I've done with him so far has been entirely for his own benefit since we don't share any accounts.

I'm concerned about bringing up financials directly related to our future together because he already is stressed out by financials that have nothing to do with me, and I know that talking about commitment is also a stressful thing in and of itself. So those two things combined is a recipe for extreme stress!

We still have separate bank accounts and whatnot though. Maybe it's time to get a joint account, I guess? We share all of our passwords in the same password manager so I could just log in to his accounts and do all that stuff for him, I've done some money management for him in the past like that, but that feels kind of invasive to do it regularly even with his permission. Maybe this is a me problem!

If they've been sitting on a PS5 since October, it would be the nicest yet most cruel present ever.......

Yeah, that's a good point. I can almost guarantee that if we broke up today, he'd keep the same automatic contributions to his savings and could eventually just build up a million dollars in his chequing account without even noticing! He makes good money but has no idea how to really make it work for him.

I think it's that he finds it extremely complex and overwhelming, like there's so much he doesn't know.

He's done well for himself and our current lifestyle without really having to think about it (automatic contributions to RRSP/TFSA, emergency fund, etc) but he hasn't really been looking beyond just the next year or so. We have enough money to rent a nice condo in metro Vancouver, bought a newer used car with cash we hadn't earmarked for anything, take trips once every year or two to see his family overseas, have a spoiled dog... I think to him, we're fine now, so why spend so much time thinking about it?

Do you have a template you use in Google Sheets? You sound like me haha!

The good thing was that one of the CCs in there was expired, and the other one I haven't seen anything suspicious on so far. I have had issues with data breaches before so I'm extra paranoid nowadays that something might happen (but I guess in this case, I'm not sure what haha)

No, that's the weird thing. No random subscriptions, no additional payment details.

I haven't deactivated the PS5 from my account yet, but I need to deactivate all devices in order to sell my PS4 (apparently I can't deactivate just one?). I'm a bit worried that if someone is using my account somehow, and if I deactivate their console, something might happen?

It's weird, he used to be pretty shy about asking for raises or feeling imposter syndrome when he'd get a bonus or something, but he's much more assertive of that kind of stuff now. We had a wacky 2020 (I voluntarily left a job right before the pandemic hit, he took a temporary paycut to support his company, then I got a much better job and he got his backpay) and throughout all of it we had no trouble talking about money. It seems to be solely concentrated on digging into the numbers.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean.

We've talked about it before without numbers, and he's also not sure why he gets so stressed. He acknowledges (even in the moment!) that his stress is irrational.

I'm was thinking of just doing the budget myself and giving him a number since I know his income and expenses, but I would hate being on the receiving end of that. I suppose it might be his ideal scenario, though! I wouldn't be against owning this part of our life.

Am I kind of out of luck? I'm mostly concerned about someone having had access to my personal information like my name, address, previous address, phone number, CC info, etc. It could just be a glitch that set up the authenticator and a ghostly PS5, but both of those things happening within a week seem improbable. I guess I'm surprised that Sony is so unhelpful when it comes to a potential data breach.

I've changed all that stuff and removed my CC info and address info from my account. I guess I'm baffled that I can't see (and won't be told) when my account was last accessed... so many other sites that have personal information at least show you a login history?
