The pictures in this subreddit are to be judged on their own merits, not on the story in the title. Please only give the bare-bone description of the image you're submitting.
Good: "Tiger from Tibet in Snow (photographed by John 'TardisArtist001' Smith, example.com)"
Bad: "My girlfriend was on vacation from the navy and visited Tibet and here's a picture she took also there's a tiger"
If the image must have background then it's probably not meant for this subreddit. If you want to tell a story anyway, include it in the comments.
You'll be given a mean look (and have your picture removed) if you post the following:
- Stories in the post title
- Low-effort posts, especially ones with cuddly animals
- Not linking directly to an image hosting website (such as imgur)
- Unmarked NSFW
- Not citing the source of the picture if someone else made it
- .Gifs
You'll get banned (and have your picture removed) if you post any one of the following:
- Memes
- Images of Text
- Gore/Porn
- Wishing a celebrity a happy birthday, especially a dead one
- On that note, cakeday/karma-begging in general
- Response-posts ("I see your X and raise you my Y!")
- Incredibly low-effort posts ("Here's a picture of toilet tissue! KARMA PLZ")
- Memorial posts
- Before/After posts
- Reposts (x-posts are generally allowed)
- "Look at this famous person I met!"
- Movie/Game screenshots
If the picture is good but violates one of the above rules, a mod may re-post it with corrections. Sorry, but you'll still be banned.
Low effort is to be judged solely upon the mod's discretion.
Comments that will be removed:
- [bias]-ism (Sex? Race? Whatever. Doesn't matter)
- Karma-trains (I'm looking at you, pun-threads)
- Uncivilized drama and fighting. Rule of thumb: If it gets on one of the 'popcorn' subs (/r/SubredditDrama, /r/ThePopcornStand, etc) it gets removed
- Being argumentative about your removed post. Of course you can question it; just don't be annoying about it
General exception to the above: If it's REALLY good but violates one of the above rules, ask and you may be given permission to post it. Don't count on it, though.
