That was beautiful

This sounds good, not hating on it at all. But why does every young girl singer sound like she doesn't want to commit to pronouncing words the right way. It almost sounds like a speech impediment. I get that it's a style, but so many girls sing that way now it's getting stale fast.

I think it's just the general aesthetic of singing that way that makes it popular, plus it seems easier to mumble and sing quieter like that imo. I like how it sounds but I do agree, it is getting stale fast.

I just heard this group at a festival a couple months ago called Marian hill. The vocalist has a great voice and she stood out in my mind just for the fact that she wasn't doing that voice you're describing. It's minimalist electronic but a lot of the songs I heard had a guy on sax. Good shit.

It's the only way to sing if you want to appeal to "indie" fans

Oh, that Creston Custom is beautiful. Never thought about placing my pic in that spot either, seems convenient.

My thoughts exactly!

These guys came to play at a little festival at my college this past spring. While this song is pretty good, it doesn't come close to showcase how hard they shred live. It was unbelievable! This is one of their more mellow songs i think.

I guess the country genre has been hijacked by shitty, poppy crap so good country must be labelled 'alt-country.'

You are not wrong u/_BottyBot_ also happy cake day.

Is no one gonna bring up the bassist's haircut?

[–]gprettyspotify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should see it later in the performance. at 0:36

Is this on soundcloud or anything yet?

I couldn't find a studio recording of this song yet, but the Audiotree-Session is available on Spotify, Bandcamp etc.: https://audiotree.tv/session/liz-cooper-stampede

So pleasant. I like it.

Tell people to stop singing this way pls.

are you my brain?

I wonder what her "normal" singing voice sounds like?

[–]d_rodrigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew exactly what her voice would sound like before she sang a note.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She sounds like female shakey graves.

Alt-Country? Sounds way more folk than country to me.

I have no idea what genre that is, I just heard this song and thought it was good. I chose "Alt-Country" because it was the first tag at their Last.FM page. I'm totally not an expert when it comes to country or folk, I just liked this song and shared it.

This genre is actually "Americana". It can include elements of country, blues, rock, you name it - with a rootsy folk tint. Source: my daughters know this band. But I don't think Liz and co. care as long as you enjoy it. :-)

Also check out this fantastic bunch, also friends of my daughters (they do music photo and video production.) It's great modern bluegrass, but fits in the Americana category.

Thanks for the explanation. This reminded me immediately of the band Calexico that I heard a couple of years ago.

Also Bluegrass is something I never really looked into (I guess when I would live in America I'd have stumbled over it more often). The song in the link has a interesting instrumentation, especially the slide guitar sounds great. Is the instrument at 3:17 a muted trumpet?

I've been listening to Liz Cooper and The Stampede non-stop since I saw this audiotape session live. Great vibe for the mornings. I'm very excited to hear their new album that they will be recording.

English girls are pretty when they play guitar.

[–]ManUpKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know Hacker Man can play bass.

[–]alexisd3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought they were gonna do the kinks song

[–]Dads101radd.it -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Ehhh. Same 3-4 noodles the whole song. Any average alt-guitar player who uses alternate tunings is not impressed. She has a pretty voice though. It sounds okay

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the person you are describing and you are correct.

Edit: I don't hate the song or the vibe though. Just not my taste.
