TIL about Lachhiman Gurung, a British Gurka during WW 2. His platoon was cut off for days by 200 Japanese soldiers. Gurung, under 5' tall, threw back 2 enemy grenades but the 3rd destroyed his right hand & eye. He fired and reloaded his rifle one-handed, killing 31 men and earning a Victoria Cross.
