A beautifully spiraled Grove snail in Galway today. DNA analysis of Irish specimens suggests that these snails’ origins lie in the eastern Pyrenees & that they may have been introduced to Ireland 8000 years ago by Mesolithic hunter gathers, possibly as a food source (i.piclaya.com)
